All the food was excellent quality. I had the pea soup and my husband had the ribs to start with and both were made in house and very tasty . We had steak which was cooked perfectly. The service was excellent and there is a great choice of wine . Altogether a great experience

Looking out over the tranquil waters of Lake Windermere, Blue Smoke on the Bay is a delightfully cosy restaurant at New Lake District. The 3-metre long double wood-fired grill acts as a focal point, using sustainable British woods to cook a selection of juicy steaks which are perfectly complemented by the diverse wine list.

A great selection of wholesome British flavours are served on the Blue Smoke at the Bay menu. Start off with Solway lobster and Muncaster crab bisque served with artisan bread, before choosing one of the succulent aged steaks cooked using a variety of woods. Other grill specialities include mango habanero-spiced chicken breast, and coffee rub short rib. There are also vegetarian choices such as sweet potato and pinto bean chilli, and indulgent sides of beer battered onion rings and sweet potato mash.

Save room for pudding at Blue Smoke on the Bay in Windermere, with options like chocolate and Captain Morgan Spiced Rum mousse, and locally produced artisan cheeses. Alongside the diverse wine list there are classic and signature cocktails, including ones made for sharing.

Offering beautiful lake views and a cosy ambience, Blue Smoke on the Bay is a 7-minute drive from Windermere Rail Station.

Service was outstanding and the food was delicious. The only think that let it down was the presentation of the main course - it was appalling. Whoever devised that presentation has never tried to eat it.

Menu sounded amazing. Seating & comfort for the diner needs attention - we were all sat too low for the table height and had to ask for extra ‘booster’ cushions - not the first time according to waitress. Not a good start. Starter (salmon) lovely. 10oz ribeye steak - both asked for med-rare - both came rare throughout the majority of the steak - to the point that I asked for further cooking - husband battled through but didn’t enjoy. Obvs wood fire cooking & variable - but if cooking steaks day in day out - expect a better result. Desert - choc latte - lovely.

Fabulous Location with jaw dropping views ( ask for a Lake view Table). Excellent service though not very busy, I imagine it could be a bit slow if the restaurant was full. We all enjoyed our meals. Highs - the petis pois with bacon, the bean starter, the lobster bisque, pea soup. Low's - monkfish slightly over cooked, Chateaubriand a little over cooked.

Great food and service. Excellent children’s menu. The lighting is a bit bright which affects the atmosphere. Our waiter Maxime was excellent- very friendly.

We thought the food was very poor tbh. Aubergine/veg grilled salad was truly awful. Chicken (special) was dry. Childrens chicken was dry and tasteless. Too expensive. Probably will not visit again.

Average food Im afraid - my expectations for the new restaurant were fairly high but I was disappointed both in the quality of the food and the attention to detail with the service. Being informed not to be late back for your table if you wanted a drink at the bar at the outset is not the best customer service. Tables very close together and located near a fire exit providing access to an outside seating area was poor

This is the 3rd time I have dined here and each time the experience has varied. The first time it was average, the second time it was good and this last time was very poor. The soup was cold, they didn’t have the wine we wanted which wasn’t an usual selection, the salmon wrap was dry with a hint of avocado and the salmon was too smokey. The portions were small for the price charged. I should have listened to feedback from the local taxi drivers and steered clear

Fantastic decor and food with a view over the lake. The staff set our table with a birthday card and balloon which made our lunch more special. We enjoyed the flatbread, steak and pork belly. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
