The Bleeding Heart Bistro is one of a gathering of gems in the Bleeding Heart franchise. Set in the heart of Farringdon, The French-inspired bistro offers a classic and modern French cuisine accompanied by a fine selection of wines.
All the traditional French dishes can be found on the Bleeding Heart Bistro menu from escargots to steak haché. For a hint of the contemporary, try the warm crab tarte Florentine with chive sauce. Cardamon and ginger île flottante heads the dessert menu.
Prized by Bleeding Heart is the award-winning wine list boasting 450 different bottles. The love of which is shown by the abundance of 19th-century French wine posters and decorative empty wine bottles.
Bleeding Heart Bistro is equipped with a large outdoor terrace covered with a red awning and adorned with a vineyard sculpture to maximise the French ambience. Farringdon Tube Station is a 2-minute walk away.

Overall a decent experience and a nice bistro atmosphere. However, a number of down sides - the day before we went the restaurant called to confirm booking but also said the prices of the set menu (which I had booked weeks in advance) had gone up; I said I thought the original prices should be honoured especially as they were only letting me know the day before, but of course this was not done. The salmon on the set menu was good, but the Coq au Vin had a very strange overly sweet sauce, which was not pleasant - we were offered an alternative which we declined, and not charged for the meal, but I have had many versions of this dish before and none tasted like this. We ordered coffees at the end of the meal - most were good, but one of the espressos arrived cold and had to be sent back.

I had high expectations given the numerous favouable reviews, but left disappointed. Our waiter was surly in the extreme and seemed to make a point of ignoring our table. Everything seemed too much trouble. That said, all the other staff were very polite and helpful. The food was generally ok, but whilst I do expect pork belly to contain a szeable amount of fat, mine was simply a lump of fat, with hardly any meat to speak of. Sadly, I shall not be returning.

Always a very friendly welcome reception, particularly by Fabien ! The herring & potato starter and plat du jour (suprême de poulet) were delicious. Pity the weather was not good enough to enjoy the terrace but ‘c’est la vie’ !

Lovely courtyard setting. Dined outside in the sun. Food was its normal high standard and service was excellent.

Nice cosy bistro-style setting with traditional French dishes for a relaxed dinner. Xmas parties were a bit rowdy but quite amusing.

Lunch for three. Confit duck, steak, fishcake. Cheeseboard and tarte tatin to follow. All very good. Good service. High ceiling keeps the noise to a pleasant level.
