Afternoon tea is the perfect combination of sweet and savoury, although a little naughty, it’s worth every bite.

Hotel Du Vin has a pleasant ambience with helpful staff. The food was good but it would have been better without the piped music. This is a fairly expensive restaurant falling in between a good pub grub hostel and an expensive restaurant. A discretionary service charge addition of 12.5% makes the bill expensive, if you accept it.

Beautiful hotel. Very good service. Four of us dined, three meals were lovely but the other was over cooked beef.

Disappointing does not do justice to this truly pathetic excuse for a restaurant - I cannot believe that food like this is served. The food was not bad it was lifeless, bland, boring and unloved (obviously by the chef as well as my wife and I). Dry lamb on a lump of cool tasteless ratatouille; 'corn fed' (wholesale frozen) chicken covered in lukewarm, congealed 'cup a soup'. Followed by cherry pudding - Yuk; sitting in a swamp of cool (obviously a speciality of the restaurant) custard. We stopped overnight here, a couple of years ago in a very pleasant suite and had a lovely meal; unfortunately this was a totally different experience. On the bright side, I still had time to cancel my planned stay in their Brighton hotel. At least the staff were pleasant.
