We enjoyed eating here although sadly there was several rowdy parties dinning at the same time as us, although this is not a huge issue it’s a bit disappointing when you’re going somewhere a bit special, the staff didn’t react in anyway to these groups, they actually kept plying them with more alcohol! My food was lovely, as was the wine, and the staff were very attentive. Thank you!

Dined here with friends for the Chateaubriand deal including wine. Service was efficient, and to the level one would expect. Disappointed to be seated right next to the waiter station so conversation between friends was interrupted now and then as staff went about their work. Consider moving the table a foot or so away for privacy of diners and room for the staff. The food was cooked well and the deal represented good value but we were disappointed with the House wine Hotel du Vin which was wishy washy and to us didn't compliment the excellent steak (wouldn't like to think I'd pay £21 for it). The desserts were ok but the iced banana souffle wasn't a souffle. Good selection of unusual cheeses that would challenge the most discerning cheese lovers palate !! Overall a nice evening, would go back but upgrade on the wine.

The food was very good although there was the odd bit of fat/gristle which I would not expect from a top quality chateaubriand. Sides were excellent as were the sauces and I was able to upgrade the wine and pay the difference. When I received the bill I was disappointed to find a £10'service charge - this London based con seems to be creeping into Newcastle with Cafe 21 also adding a 12.5% 'discretionary' service charge. A tip should be purely at the customers discretion and whenever I receive a bill with a suggested/discretionary service charge I ask for it to be removed. If the service has been excellent I will always ask the staff who receives the tip as in many cases it is kept by the house.

Lovely food, delay on my dessert of 40 mins but was given this free and a glass of wine for the inconvenience! Lovely waitress!

We had the £16.95 2 course menu, which was a bit limited. Inclusive cocktail was nice - but there was no choice you had that one or nothing. The food was pretty good. Service was slow, particularly when we were attempting to pay the bill & leave. Restaurant itself was very nice.

This was probably one of the best food experiences we have had, from the moment we walked in the staff where attentive and very professional, we had a meal that included wine and as we are not usually wine lovers we where in the dark as to what we should choose as we upgraded from the house wine, the wine expert gave us an option and let me tell you it was fantastic, the food was to die for. Would we return?? Try and stop us!!

Special meal enhanced by the knowledge of the Sommelier - great value offer on the Chateaubriand

The Chateaubrian steaks were superbly tender and delicious, generous portions, and the carrots and onion conserve were extraordinarily good. Puddings were lovely, too, and a very good red wine and coffee afterwards. Surroundings are of a very high quality, and the waiters were lively and knowledgeable.
