The Champagne aperitif was superb - Hotel du Vin has it's own 'house champagne' by Lombard of Epernay - this was all explained to us by Max who looked after us personally. He gave us some good incites in to the dishes. We were ordering 3 courses from the 'Prix Fixe' menu - not an extensive menu but, don't let that put you off, we both would have been happy with any of the choices on offer. We ordered different dishes for each course and they were all equally good, of top quality & nicely served. The Cerviche was deliche! Another snippet from Max was that the French fishermen eat their catch this way when out at sea, marinating the fish/scallops only for eight minutes - Salmon is apparently good for cerviche, if you want to try at home.... Great wine suggestion from Max also - an Alsace White, perfect for our choices. We booked for an early 'dinner' and therefore it wasn't busy, but this didn't detract from the experience at all. We were offered any table we wanted and certainly received great service. This was our first visit and we enjoyed our experience. We will definitely go again and try the a la carte menu, which looks pretty amazing. Another Max tip was to make any requests for special dishes such as Chateaubriand & Les Fruits de Mer at time of booking as they can 'sell out'. Think this may become a special occasion place, although equally you could simply pop in for lunch or the prix fixe dinner without it being a total 'blow out'. Very impressed with 'Hotel du Vin'. Glad we took up the offer which gave us the encouragement to try it out for the first time.

We really enjoyed dining at the Hotel du vin. The food was amazing, well presented and absolutely delicious. We both decided to try different dishes of the set menu and found them mouth watering. We will be dining there again, probably with the offer again, as it was value for money and the al a carte is a little too pricey for our budget.

Very tasty food and and comfortable surroundings BUT we were not offered the wine that was part of the deal - we asked for confirmation of the offer but we're just shown the menu choice. This spoiled what should have been a pleasant experience.

Perfectly pleasant meal BUT - they charged us £15 a glass for 3 glasses of Malbec - and a fairly greedy £12 for cocktails. The bottle of Malbec was only £36 so you would think that the Sommelier would have said I'll just charge you for a bottle wouldn't you? BUT NO! I will never go there again and in actual fact - when I questioned it I was told that the pricing was set by London. Don't they know we in Yorkshire simply won't put up up with such flagrant greed?!!! It would explain why - on a Friday night where everywhere else was busy - Hotel du Vin had hardly anyone in all evening after 7:30! Buck your ideas up Hotel du Vin or go back to the idiots in London who think it's okay to rip people off! Not Happy at all!

Having not been for a couple of years I was quite excited to re visit with friends the restaurant. Sadly very disappointing food very average and attention from the staff almost non existent. Only 13 people in the restaurant and still had to wait an hour for the first course to arrive ! I can remember a time when Hotel Du Vin was the place to go, now just looking very tired and could do with some TLC.

A very nice setting with attentive staff. The menu was good with some authentic French dishes. My steak frites was superb. Beautifully charred, but pink, steak with gorgeous accompaniments. Very fairly priced. I'd highly recommend eating here.

Absolutely exquisite. The service was superb. The waiter kept coming to our table every 15-20 mins to check if we were ok and needed anything else. The value and food quality was second to none. Pleasant ambience too in the bistro. We did go for afternoon tea earlier this year and that too was amazing. We will be definitely be going back here! The staff too were very friendly, knowledge and helpful.
