We had a very enjoyable meal in pleasant surroundings with attentive but not intrusive service.

Bird of Smithfield is situated in a 5-storey Georgian townhouse complete with rooftop terrace. Sitting alongside London’s only functioning meat market, the abundance of fresh, local meat is far from surprising.

From head chef Tommy Boland, the Bird of Smithfield menu offers a delicious fusion of British gastronomy with French cooking influences. Try starters like Cornish mackerel with oyster, radish and pickled cucumber, followed by roasted turbot with celeriac purée with winter greens, charred potatoes, and hazelnut and black truffle pesto. Desserts include pistachio soufflé with bitter chocolate ice cream.

The dining room is stylishly decked out in tweed and herringbone fabrics, whilst the lounge bar, basement cocktail bar and roof terrace are equally well groomed. Regular food & drinks pop ups are also held at Bird of Smithfield.

Occupying an historic location, Bird of Smithfield is a 5-minute walk from Farringdon and Barbican train stations.

Very warm welcome from the lady on reception. The retaurant was full on the first floor, but no idea about the roof terrace. Orders were taken quickly and the food arrived with only a short wait.My starter and fish main course were both delicious. the retaurant was noisier than I would have liked, but this could be solved by having a few soft furnishings.

Good sized nicely cooked Scallops followed by the Steak. As a Steak connoisseur(;-) this was right up there among the very best. Full size fillet, perfectly cooked & rested-pink in the middle, no blood. Perfect.

I ate here before in the evening which was an average experience. However i resolved to try again and the lunch on the roof was much better all round. The service was prompt, friendly and not overbearing. The set menu was excellent and good value although the desert was a little curious but it was my choice.

The tomato dish to start was amazing and so was the Bakewell tart, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Not very good. Both meals were under cooked. Raw had to send back bothe meals. Lamb had more fat than meat

The service was excellent and staff very welcoming and polite. The starter was disappointing and my partners lamb on his main course was very fatty and chewy. The flavours were beautiful and dessert was lovely but we left feeling we hadnt been wowed.

Fantastic service. Amazing food. We were tight for time and the staff responded brilliantly, they even booked us a taxi for the end of our meal. The food was top quality. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
