High tea in their Imperial room felt like we had walked into a film set with the piano playing and happy groups of people enjoying a well deserved Betty’s tea. We loved everything including our lovely waiter!

Bettys Harrogate has been offering afternoon teas, and a blend of British and Swiss cuisine since 1919. The original Bettys Café, the restaurant overlooks the floral landscapes of The Stray outside.
Afternoon teas at Betty Harrogate include a luxurious selection of sandwiches, cakes, patisseries and teas. Indulge in a traditional cream tea with scones and Yorkshire clotted cream, treat yourself to a champagne afternoon tea, or choose from the lavish cake trolley.
Combining the hearty influences of Swiss and Yorkshire cuisines, the Bettys menu places bacon and raclette rosti and swiss alpine macaroni alongside classics like fish and chips and slow-cooked steak pie. More Mediterranean influences also feature, including butternut squash tortelloni in sage butter with chestnut mushrooms, fresh spinach and toasted hazelnuts. For a lighter dish, try one of the speciality sandwiches, salads and omelettes.
In the centre of the picturesque North Yorkshire spa town, Bettys Harrogate is a 10-minute walk from Harrogate Train Station.

It was OK. We selected the afternoon tea experience. The white linen, china and tea set were absolutely lovely. The sandwiches were just OK, but the scones were delicious. Meet and greet was perfect, but there was no follow up. It felt a little bit like being on a conveyer belt and not a relaxed afternoon tea - a take your time - experience. Everything seemed geared around a one and a half hour slot; get them in and get them out. Perhaps our expectations were too high.

When in Harrogate what else can you do but go to Betty’s. Staff are polite and attentive, afternoon tea is out of this world and the shop is great. You need to sample everything, love the selection of teas and always it lots to take home with us. Overall well worth the experience and as a regular we always go regardless.

Lovely experience, piano playing in upstairs afternoon tea room. Had emailed beforehand to ask for “no fish” and was disappointed that both the appetiser and croissant were both substituted with courgette, expected perhaps ham or cheese or egg. Otherwise a lovely experience.

Simply the best afternoon tea ever! The location, food and service were all excellent, completely without fault. You have even converted my husband who was not an afternoon tea fan. Nothing was too much trouble; there were four in my party, with one vegetarian and one no seafood and this was absolutely no problem. Thank you for such a lovely experience during our holiday to Yorkshire.

This was a special treat for my daughter-in-laws birthday and it came up to expectations. The food and service were both very good. She is American and wanted to experience an English afternoon tea. She was delighted with the whole thing.

A pleasant experience. However extremely over priced at 42.50 per person for what you got.
We asked for extra sandwiches, the waitress asked would you like a mixed selection, yes we replied.
She brought out 3 finger sandwiches, 3?? For 2 people?
We just laughed and cut it in two, half each.
