Benoit was fine; this is a review of 'Bookatable.' You acknowledged my reservation request by email, but Benoit had no record of it. Fortunately we came at a time they had tables for walk ins.
This has never happened to me using OpenTable. Guess it is a lesson for me.

Preserving the tradition and inviting feel of Benoit in Paris, which opened in 1912 and became part of the Groupe Alain Ducasse in 2005, Benoit in New York City echoes the original bistro, embracing many dishes from its near 100-year-old repertoire.

Designed by interior architect Pierre-Yves Rochon, the dining room itself is particularly reminiscent of Benoit in Paris. Spacious and cosy, guests are invited to enjoy their meal in the comfort of red banquettes and a mix of solid oak and zinc tables. The chandelier and sconces, coupled with Chef Ducasse's own private collection of individual miniature liquor bottles and special carafes, make up the perfect finishing touches to the elegant decor and act as the ideal backdrop for an exceptional meal.

From the seasonal favourites to French bistro classics crafted by Alain Ducasse, Benoit's menu presents guests with an authentic, charming dining experience. Respecting tradition and technique throughout, patrons can enjoy an extensive selection of exquisite main courses, including Pike Quenelles with a Nantua sauce, Garlic Roasted Chicken with French fries, and Steak au Poivre with pommes soufflés.

Recognised with Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence, enjoy a selection of wines by the glass at the bar area. Alongside a tasty selection of bar food, this relaxing area also offers apertifs before or after your meal, and a variety of cocktails and spirits.

we were going to have a meal there but then needed to cancel which we tried doing online. online response: you can't cancel online, call the restaurant. We called. And called and called and called....20 times. Always a busy signal. Ridiculous

We arrived at the unfashionable hour of 5:45 (needed to catch a bus back to New Jersey) we we were the first in the restaurant but that quickly changed. The staff was attentive but not fawning, the food was typical French bistro and good, the ambience was great. Not too noisy easily able to carry on a conversation. Overall a very pleasant experience

It is as close to being in Pais at a Bistro as one can get in NY We were there on a Saturday night and it was very busy and the service a wee bit erratic, but attentive. The food is very typical French Brasserie.

Like most high end restaurants they don't cater to individual diners. If you come alone they are rather unwelcoming and very surprised that you were able to secure a table. They are a little pricey and again like most French restaurants are annoyed that you don't drink wine or liquor. So the dining experience is a mixed bag but the food and ambience are excelent. I would not recommend to lone diners...definitely not.
