The food, service and ambience were all perfect - I would have no hesitation recommending Benares to family and friends and have already started doing so.

    Outstanding experience in every way!
The way we were greeted, the drinks, the food .
The attention to detail .The chef noticed that one of the starters on the street food menu was the same as that on the set menu and he offered to change it.
    Amazing experience. Highly recommend it.

Just amazing. We loved our evening here, the food was outstanding and the Passion Fruit Chutney martini out of this world

Wife's birthday. Went for the street food taster menu with a stunning cocktail! The baby squid and the lamb were the stand out courses, but superb. Lovely touch of a surprise birthday dessert.

Service was friendly & efficient, without being too intrusive.

Will definitely return but this time to the main restaurant.

We had the Street food menu which was beautifully presented and preceded by a spicy green Martini. It was all delicious and without fault. It was my husband's birthday and he was given a little cake with a candle - a nice touch. The atmosphere was fun and lively, the staff charming and the service excellent. In fact, everything you'd expect from a Michelin starred restaurant; We weren't disappointed.

I am not sure where Michelin stars are coming from. It is good Indian cuisine, but really not that special, i.e. you end up with a plate of ok curry (not impressed with flavor) plate of naan (a bit stale) and plate of rise. Wine pairing is with cheap Greek wine, which i am not sure if goes anyway... The waiter dealing with bills was rude - taking extra effort to suggest that female in the company will pay while she was in the restroom ceremoniously putting the bill far from male company's reach. Totally uncalled for!

We had an awful experience at Benares. I had to double check if it is really 1 Michelin star restaurant. I never write the comments about the restaurants, but this time I decided to express my view, which is largely shared with my friends as we were 5 persons dinning that nigh at Benares. Our table "manager" made our dinner "bitter". Rude and aggressive attitude from the beginning of the dinner ( almost shouting at us, that we were 10min late) - I was feeling like I was a 10 years girl that did something wrong! Quite incredible for a such a type of restaurant. And that was only the beginning! During the dinner, my friend's fish was obviously overcooked and actually burned, so she asked to replace it - the manager refused to do it and argued with her! In addition, my other friend was eating her fish a bit slower that others and the manager came to her and started interrogate her if she also does not like her fish - so unpleasant! This dinner was one of the worst experience we ever had. the positive side is that it was so bad, that it made us laugh! It is pity, because food in general was good and other personnel was very friendly and very attentive. We strongly recommend to review the way how certain clients are considered and served in this restaurant.

Great experience - excellent food and service. We had the set menu at £35 per head with a champagne cocktail and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. A definite must do!
