Restaurant description
A Brighton institution since 2001, Bankers serves up award-winning fish and chips with all the trimmings. Housed in an attractive Victorian building, this comfy setting for this classic British dish uses sustainably sourced fish, recycles its used oil into biodiesel, and always offers a warm, seaside welcome.
The celebrated fish and chips on the Bankers menu is cooked in a secret recipe batter, with options like cod, haddock, plaice and swordfish. All the fish can be cooked in breadcrumbs, matzo, or even grilled or poached on request, and there are tempting platters to share as well, with mouthwatering scampi and calamari. Alongside the fish selection, there is spit-roasted chicken, freshly baked pies, and jumbo sausages too. Vegetarian options are also available, as well as special menus just for kids.
Sumptuous desserts at Bankers in Hove are a perfect way to finish up. Traditional treats include treacle or jam sponge puddings, chocolate fudge cake, and banana fritters with ice cream. A selection of international beers are served alongside wines and bubbles, with soft drinks and milkshakes for the kids.
A great example of traditional fish and chips at the seaside, Bankers is a stone's throw from the seafront, and 5 minutes' drive from Brighton Rail Station.

We had not been to Bankers for nearly a year. Yesterday's visit was just like it had always been - friendly staff, we were remembered, great portions of f & c. Cleanliness excellent, we felt safe with their covid precautions.

On entering the restaurant, my group of 4 were greeted by one of the staff who took our body temperatures, as required under current regulations. We were then shewn to a table, and then presented with the menus. We all ordered the Senior Citizens Special, which was served up within a few minutes, with the required tea. Very hot nad wholesome meal was enjoyed by all. Followed by apple pie.

Great food but very disappointed with the covid arrangements. Tables too close together. Staff didn't wear masks. Right next to table were the staff standing right next to us.
