A Brighton institution since 2001, Bankers serves up award-winning fish and chips with all the trimmings. Housed in an attractive Victorian building, this comfy setting for this classic British dish uses sustainably sourced fish, recycles its used oil into biodiesel, and always offers a warm, seaside welcome.
The celebrated fish and chips on the Bankers menu is cooked in a secret recipe batter, with options like cod, haddock, plaice and swordfish. All the fish can be cooked in breadcrumbs, matzo, or even grilled or poached on request, and there are tempting platters to share as well, with mouthwatering scampi and calamari. Alongside the fish selection, there is spit-roasted chicken, freshly baked pies, and jumbo sausages too. Vegetarian options are also available, as well as special menus just for kids.
Sumptuous desserts at Bankers in Hove are a perfect way to finish up. Traditional treats include treacle or jam sponge puddings, chocolate fudge cake, and banana fritters with ice cream. A selection of international beers are served alongside wines and bubbles, with soft drinks and milkshakes for the kids.
A great example of traditional fish and chips at the seaside, Bankers is a stone's throw from the seafront, and 5 minutes' drive from Brighton Rail Station.

The restaurant seemed clean & tidy but a little cold. We had booked in advance and imformed the restaurant of an allergy however on our arrival no-one was aware of this. The staff were efficient but very solemn

Excellent service, they accommodated our particular requirements brilliantly. Food was delicious and plentiful. Nearly all of us had cod and chips with peas which was top notch.

Best fish and chips since we last visited Bankers! Really fresh and delicious. Really good portions. Nice atmosphere. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, fresh and clean. The service was exceptional without being fussy. Excellent all round. Parking nearby is a nightmare - use a cab! The only spaces available without a permit are down the street opposite at the bottom of a square. Allow plenty of time to find one though.

Very disappointing. Very basic seating with little character. The meal was also disappointing. The piece of cod was hardly ‘ medium’ size and the batter very greasy. Ate little of this. I stay fairly regularly with a friend in Hove and usually go to the Regency opposite the I 360. Decided to have a change.. No comparison- will certainly be returning there. No doubt you only print the good comments. Margaret

Great traditional fish and chip shop, can not fault the service or the quality of food. Would not hesitate to recommend

Very pleasant lunch at Bankers over the August bank holiday. It provided some respite from the scorching sun, and our 16 month old and 2.5 year old enjoyed feasting on the kids fish and chips! Staff were very friendly and accommodating, considering the little ones. We had fish and chips and scampi and chips and it was totally worth the walk from the beach! Nice touch serving the kids fish and chips with a plastic bucket and spade which you can take away with you. It's these little things that keep kids occupied! Definitely great for seafood for all the family. Nice, traditional, clean decor which made it feel like an authentic fish and chips restaurant.
