Restaurant description

Following in the footsteps of the celebrated Waterloo branch, Bangalore Express City epitomises the fresh and funky attitude of the South Indian city of Bangalore. Spanning 2 floors, a range of light and delicious fare is served in this smart, open-plan venue.

With dishes designed by award-winning chef Yogesh Datta, the Bangalore menu is innovative, informal and flexible. As well as classic tandoori recipes, lamb meatballs in tempered mint yoghurt, or tandoor-roasted chicken tikka supreme marinated in sweet red chillies, are consistent Bangalore Bank favourites. Sharing tapas dishes include chicken kebabs with cooling mint, or vegetable samosas with chick pea curry.

An extensive selection for dessert includes Indian favourites of carrot halwa fudge with Cornish clotted cream or the Bangalore signature sundae, whilst mini desserts like rich chocolate fondant are served with cleansing masala tea. A children’s menu of miniature Indian-style delights is also served.

Standing out from its contemporaries as a slick, modern destination for Indian cuisine, Bangalore London guests can enjoy cosy private booths, or perch at the sweeping bar. Bank Station is a 3-minute walk away.

Nice ambience, enough tables and very courteous staff. Good range of drinks and food with ample portions. Already have visited twice and would recommend to anyone. Note: As mentioned before since there is variety of food (both south and north Indian mix) it is hard to get the true authentic taste/preparation of the dishes as would normally get in dedicated restaurants. Never the less, the taste and spice levels are still good and you won't get disappointed. Slightly pricey, but for that prime location, ambience and excellent service, it is still reasonable I would say. Two course meal will cost about £20 per head.

The service was friendly but we had to wait a long time for our food although we were offered a complimentary drink Food was generally good.

I got the sense that the food served here was adapted for English palates rather than faithfully following traditional recipes. Still, the food was delicious if you were somebody who had never tasted the authentic dish before, service was polite, discreet and friendly and we were made to feel welcome. I'd go back with friends and colleagues but not if I was looking to satisfy my urge for authentic Indoan-style food. Don't let that put you off, though. It's a lovely venue.

It's not the first time I've been here and the food is lovely. However tonight the staff was totally appalling. We hadn't decided straight away what to order, and then we were made to wait quite a long time until someone came to take the order. After we almost finish our dinner we had to tell the staff twice that we hadn't really finished, as they were quite keen to take the food off the table. There was a point when a waitress wanted to take the dessert from unde my nose while I was still eating it.

Superb food as usual. Just what you need to shake of January blues.
