Restaurant description
Get a taste of Israeli cuisine under the Union Street Arches at Bala Baya restaurant in South Bank. Set across 2 floors with a sunny backyard terrace, the restaurant brings family-style cooking from an open kitchen to a unique airy space, offering you a unique experience that is all about feasting and sharing whilst ensuring that all ingredients are all responsibly sourced. Bala Baya is the first stand-alone project from Israeli born Chef Eran Tibi, whose vibrantly progressive cuisine pays homage to his roots.
Serving traditional sharing plates, Bala Baya in Southwark starts with house baked pita and hummus or pistachio-dusted prawn baklava. Try the catch of the day with a buttery burnt sage, fennel, lemon and anise sauce before ending on the parsnip and honey semifreddo.
The Bala Baya menu and wine list pays respect to its heritage with its Tel Aviv flavours and pours vino from parts of Israel alongside new and old-world wines. The interior pays tribute to the city’s atmosphere and has been carefully replicated by multi-award-winning designer, Afroditi Krassa. Bala Baya has created a kaleidoscope space that allows you to experience the sun-kissed youthfulness of Tel Aviv from the heart of Southwark.
Found in the Old Union Yard Arches and right near Union Theatre, Bala Baya in London is just a 3-minute walking distance from Southwark Station.
