We enjoyed the whole experience very much. The food was just right, good quality, quantity, looked good, tasted good. Service was also just right.

Staff and service were great but the food I ordered was just ‘ordinary’ and the fish on my main course was just warm and not hot. The restaurant is in a great location for dining before a visit to the Royal Albert Hall, less than 10 minutes walk

Wednesday June 6. 12.45. We have visited this restaurant a number of times and had excellent food and service. Not this time! Perhaps the organisation has been taken over? Our food was horrid - a 'supersalad' of wet old kale leaves and assorted other items plus a piece of leathery dried out chicken. We ordered salads and the waitress said 'chicken or haloumi'. Stupidly thinking this was included (our fault for not studying the menu) we said chicken. I asked for two glasses of house wine and the waitress said 'oh I recommend the Sauvingnon' so we said OK, thinking the house must be poor quality. She did not ask whether we wanted small/medium/large just brought two of those globe glasses (hard to tell how much wine). Again we should have checked price. Eventually I asked for the bill and to our horror it was over £65 (for two awful salads and 2 glasses of wine!). Checking the menu we saw that the sums were correct due to the add on price for chicken and an astonishing £11 for each glass of wine. A few minutes after receiving the bill, the waitress snapped 'do you want to pay cash or card?' In other words, pay up and clear off. Rather unnecessary as the place was practically empty (and no wonder). We fled and I am sorry I failed to deduct the service charge which was over £7. It is sad that his once busy successful restaurant has obviously gone downhill - and how. We would not go again, ever. I have mostly given no stars. Patricia MacDonald

Average at best. Dirty bathrooms. French breakfast arrived with pink sausage. Asked for it to be fully cooked, came back cooked but rest of breakfast had just been kept hot (eggs had been flipped to look "fresh"), and portion had reduced. Also had bread basket, which was good, but was served with jams which were already opened (conviviality I guess) and had butter and bread crumbs from previous customers... Wouldn't recommend and won't go again. Would recommend Wolseley etc instead.

Prix fixe menu pre-theatre was great value. Food was delicious and complete with all the trimmings (so often shortcuts with prix fixe menus). Location is very convenient for Royal Albert Hall. Service was prompt but waiter not clear what St Germain (in cocktail) was and forgot my mocha - hence only 4 stars.

Meal was very slow in arriving, we had advised that we had theatre tickets, when mains arrived 3 out of 4 were lukewarm,,,, not good. Cost of which was removed, but sadly, we would not recommend or go back.

Very poor service. The waiter took ages to bring me a menu, did not come to me to take an order for over 20min from my arrival, only cleared the starter when he brought the main. Actually, the paper napkin (in the metal container with the bread) caught fire (although it extinguished quickly) and no waiter noticed or bothered to check on burnt bits of paper that ended scattered on the table. Not even that busy at the time -- it was 7pm and there were many empty tables. I wonder if it is specific to the one waiter, or there is a bigger issue. No complains about the food itself though, which is of high quality.
