The food was incredible and had great service to match. Being in a hotel the atmosphere will never be as Galvin la Chappelle but was still good. Definitely one of the best meals I've had and the five course tasting menu with wine pairing was well worth the money.

From Michelin-starred chefs Chris and Jeff Galvin, Galvin at The Athenaeum champions the finest in British produce. Stepping away from their trademark French-inspired menus, modern takes on classic British dishes join Galvin favourites and a quintessential afternoon tea within this famous hotel.

The Galvin menu showcases a host of rich flavours, in dishes such as Dingley Dell pork belly with black pudding and an apple and hazelnut salad, yellowfin tuna burger with white cabbage slaw and avocado, and potato gnocchi with braised short rib and Portobello mushrooms. Galvin classics include duck liver parfait with red onion marmalade and toasted brioche, and steak tartare with toasted sourdough.

Afternoon tea at The Athenaeum on Piccadilly is as refined as its setting. Tuck into classic finger sandwiches, pastries and cakes, and add a glass of fine champagne for extra indulgence.

    the whole experience was ok but let down by atmosphere.The meet and greet ,bar ,drinks and team were excellent.Having eaten at 3 other Galvin restaurants we expected and received very well conceived and delivered brasserie food.With only 8 people in the room there was no atmosphere.It was dead and with few staff present this could be the norm in the evening.Probably busy at lunchtime.It was not conducive to drink!

    The whole dining experience was fabulous. We had lunch. An exquisite tasting menu. The service was impeccable but not obsequious. There was not one course that we wouldn't have gladly eaten in a much bigger portion!

    Fantastic service and lovely food.
    Our maitre'd was so welcoming and helpful with the menu. He named all the vegan options for me and even went as far as to tell me how they were cooked (namely the risotto).
    Our waiter was very attentive without being intrusive.
    The food was really well presented and tasted great too.
    Nice atmosphere and I would definitely return.

    We booked the 5 course lunch tasting menu for a birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and we were able to take our time and did not feel rushed.
    The meal was very good value for money and I would certainly recommend this to friends and family

    We had a fantastic date night! The food was amazing and beautifully presented. William and the rest of the staff were very friendly and attentive. We decided halfway through the meal that we'd definitely be coming back. The food was absolutely delicious and the combinations of flavours and textures were inspired. Loved the raspberry cheesecake! The seared tuna was cooked to perfection.

    We are very interested in Modern British Dining so thought this restaurant would be good to try out.So glad we did! Everything was superb, from the start.Lovely friendly girl on reception and marvellous waiters...cannot be faulted.One of our guests was gluten-free and this was catered for.The gluten free bread was delicious the best tasted.It's a small intimate place which we liked, lovely central flower arrangement[I love that sort of thing!].We mentioned at the beginning that we were there to celebrate our daughter's graduation....we weren't expecting anything however at the end they gave her some chocolates and a chocolate card with congratulations on it..a very nice touch,thank you.OK,now the food..the bubbles were fab.English peas,preserved lemon & goats curd on crisp sourdough was sublime, yummy.Yellowfin tuna burger with Asian sesame slaw[very finely grated white cabbage] also delicious.I shall try and replicate at home!Next, wow,the scrumptious[hubby's word] braised short rib had us all in respectful silence. All in all an amazing food.Thank you .Also, nice modern[trendy London] music in background had us enjoying the beat.
