Restaurant description

Housed in a striking period building opposite Exeter Cathedral, ASK Italian Exeter offers traditional Italian cuisine in relaxed, unpretentious surroundings. ASK is close to the Guildhall Shopping Centre, and the Royal Albert Museum.

Inspired by the Italian way of eating, ASK Italian celebrates mealtimes as an opportunity to connect with one another around the table. Start with a perfect-for-sharing antipasti board from the ASK Italian menu, and enjoy signature dishes from fresh pasta to crispy stone-baked pizzas with a great choice of toppings. And because there’s always room for dessert, diners can indulge in a selection of beautiful desserts including the chocolate Etna, served with plenty of theatre.

ASK Italian restaurants showcase Italian cuisine at affordable prices, with allergen information on hand if ever you need it, plus a fun kids menu. Premium beers, including Sicily’s most famous craft beer, Messina Bira, are available alongside Italian wines, cocktails and soft drinks, like a refreshing craft lemonade.

Exeter ASK Italian is a family-friendly Italian restaurant in the heart of the city, a 7-minute drive from Exeter Central Rail Station.

We were given a warm welcome on arrival. We both ordered the Pollo al Milano but were surprised to find an enormous helping of undercooked broccoli which we immediately discarded on a side plate which we asked for. The sauce alongside was rather thick and not particularly nice. The chicken and fries were all well-cooked. Afterwards we sat for at least 15 minutes before the empty plates were removed. We were not asked if we wanted a dessert or coffee so we asked for the bill. We also noted that ice was added to our drinks whereas in other places, following the publicity about tainted ice cubes. we would have preferred to be asked. We were disappointed by this visit to a previously favourite restaurant and did not tip, although we normally do so. However, every place can have a bad day and we have decided not to cancel a booking for Monday 11th for a reunion with an old friend. We hope that you will not let us down.

Yr restaurant was chosen by my 16 yrold Grand Daughter, as a treat so that I could hear all about her GCSE results and a recent volunteer trip to Cambodia. Booked table, telephoned to update our late arrival. All staff charming and no hassle there. Lovely sunny day so chose to eat lunch in their delightful courtyard. Pleasantly quiet and we could chat easily as I am hard of hearing. Again excellent waitering staff, attentive but not in yr face. Good menu, good wine, good service. Satisfactory facilities. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience on a special occasion between a Grandfather and his Granddaughter. Roll on the next time. Thanks

I had dinner here with my family a few days ago. The food is so delicious! We had pasta and pizza and we really enjoyed the food. The restaurant caters for special dietary requirements, and we really appreciated it as we could get vegan and gluten-free menus. It's a pity they do not offer a wider variety of fish as mains. Nonetheless, there's plenty to choose from and the staff is willing to accommodate your needs. Fantastic location, child-friendly place, nice staff...definitely worth a visit.

Eating ouside was very pleasant and the waiter was attentive however the food was certainly not worth the full price - glad to be using tokens! Chicken caeser salad was nothing but slightly dried chicken and lettuce! Pizza looked lacking in toppings too. Chocolate dessert was tasty.

Very good service, nice (but not exceptional!) food. Salmon & grain salad....salmon a little overcooked, a little tough, & the grain salad lacked a little flavour.
