Restaurant description

Housed in a striking period building opposite Exeter Cathedral, ASK Italian Exeter offers traditional Italian cuisine in relaxed, unpretentious surroundings. ASK is close to the Guildhall Shopping Centre, and the Royal Albert Museum.

Inspired by the Italian way of eating, ASK Italian celebrates mealtimes as an opportunity to connect with one another around the table. Start with a perfect-for-sharing antipasti board from the ASK Italian menu, and enjoy signature dishes from fresh pasta to crispy stone-baked pizzas with a great choice of toppings. And because there’s always room for dessert, diners can indulge in a selection of beautiful desserts including the chocolate Etna, served with plenty of theatre.

ASK Italian restaurants showcase Italian cuisine at affordable prices, with allergen information on hand if ever you need it, plus a fun kids menu. Premium beers, including Sicily’s most famous craft beer, Messina Bira, are available alongside Italian wines, cocktails and soft drinks, like a refreshing craft lemonade.

Exeter ASK Italian is a family-friendly Italian restaurant in the heart of the city, a 7-minute drive from Exeter Central Rail Station.

Salad garnish with prawn dish looked rather tired! Croutons on Chicken Caesar salad were soft.

We dined in the evening, Exeter ASK is in aperfect setting in a posswibly haunted old listed building right next to the Cathedral. Although not overly fancy the food was great and what you expect from a good chain restaurant. The service was attentive and fast and it was thoroughly enjoyable.

My daughter had her 15th birthday here with 6 girlfriends and no adults. The staff were superb and looked after them famously, putting confetti on the table and little party gifts and dealing with the cake and candles i had brought in for her.

The late night dinner was lovely and staff were attentive but not 'in your face'! Had a great meal considering the restaurant was packed (New Years Eve) and they were turning away business due to being full to capacity. Nevertheless, food and service were perfect. Will definately return again soon.

We had lunch as part of our day out shopping after Christmas for my sisters birthday. We were a mixed party aged between 9 and 70. We all enjoyed the food and find it reasonably priced and delicious for all tastes. The setting is nice, shabby chic style old building. Outdoor seating area is great in good weather, bit chilly in December! Only issue is ladies loos need upgrade. Only ONE for such a large restaurant. My daughter's fave place but sadly the choc pud was not available on day we went. Great overall meal though no complaints!.

It is a family tradition to go late night shopping in Exeter and then have a meal in ASK I usually to this twice once with my grown up children and then my partner. This booking was with the children and the service was very very slow and a bit chaotic. I appreciate it was a very busy night. However when I mentioned the slow service I was given an immediate reduction on the bill and a very sincere apology which was very much appreciated We will return next year
