The lunch was a pleasant experience in comfortable surroundings, with a very good choice of dishes. The only niggle was that the drinks were expensive.

Basking in an enviable location on the magnificent Ashdown Park estate, the Anderida Restaurant offers refined gourmet dining in East Sussex. Holder of 2 AA Rosettes, the Anderida brings imaginative touches to exquisitely presented dishes, served in the grand dining room or al fresco in Ashdown Park Hotel’s stunning grounds.

The seasonal Anderida menu is complemented by a comprehensive AA Notable Wine List, exhibiting the best European and New World vintages and award-winning champagne. The Anderida Sommeliers will advise the perfect accompaniment to locally sourced Lamberhurst wild duck or 38-day aged fillet of beef.

Anderida’s table d’hôte choice showcases their chefs’ skill and ingenuity, with sweet and sour duck terrine and crispy won tons followed by roasted monkfish tails, curried potatoes, mango, almonds and cashew purée. Divine à la carte fish options include roasted gilt head bream, pesto and Gruyère strudel.

Fulsome Sunday lunches are served in lavish style, while a carefully chosen children’s menu will please with its high-quality ingredients. Driving or by taxi, Anderida Restaurant at Ashdown Park Hotel and Country Club is around a 6-minute journey from Forest Row.

A lovely setting for this afternoon tea. In a place like this though, I would expect crisp linen tablecloths (ours was a bit creased) and there was an empty beer bottle on the dresser in front of us. Picky I know but we were checking it out to take some of our younger members of staff here to observe the kind of service and cleanliness that our own clients expect, to bring back to our business.
The service also could have been better, the teapot handles were hot, we were told by our waitress, she poured the first cup for us but didn’t come back to pour any more, so we did it ourselves. We then had to ask for a second pot, rather than them keeping an eye and offering another. Also there was a dirty mark on our waitress uniform.
I do realise that this is picky and I wouldn’t necessarily have let it bother me but I won’t be bringing our staff here as it’s not the example I was looking for. For such a grand place with a great reputation, the finer details need looking at.

Service in bar not good enough for price paid. Slow & wrong drink brought.
New potatoes were not ‘new’ potatoes!

The staff were very good, the setting was lovely (although would update the interior) unfortunately both my husband and I were very disappointed with the food. The presentation was great with vibrant colours and textures but the food was totally bland.

what a place to find but oh yes it was worth every penny . Excellent service with well cooked food and neat touches with the amuse bouches and sorbets between courses. Staff did very well too. very pleasant ambiance and nice to have gentle piano music in the background.Altogether a pleasant experience, Should have stayed the night!!

It was a beautiful sunny day and we had been told we could walk the grounds if we wished - which we did - so we got there a little early and enjoyed the gardens before having afternoon tea in one of the lounges. This was a late Christmas present for two friends and the booking system had been very easy to use and arrange - I paid for and downloaded two vouchers - so no embarrassment of paying front of the guests. Traditional afternoon tea was super - service great and it was no bother to any of the staff for top ups of teapots!!

We had a fantastic meal here last Sunday with a good selection of courses and very delicious food. The service was very attentive and quick. We were lucky enough to be sitting near to the very talented pianist too which added to the enjoyment.

I was critical about the Sunday lunch previously but this time it couldn't be faulted. The service was excellent; friendly, efficient but unobtrusive. As last time, the meals were well presented, but thank goodness, this time round they were hot. I can't recall enjoying a better piece of pork.
Whether or not to do with staff rota's we couldn't tell but there were one or two subtle changes this time that seemed to make all the difference. Highly enjoyable visit.
