Restaurant description

One of the most unusual restaurants in London, Archipelago is a colourful den of exotic and adventurous flavours. Sample everything from crocodile and kangaroo meat, all in a seductive setting of tribal masks, fertility statues and peacock feathers.

The Archipelago menu is a true taste of the exotic and experimental. Hot and spicy jerked alpaca is served with candy beetroot, while sweet chilli smoked python carpaccio comes with green tea and wasabi crackers for that Asian-influenced crunch. There are aromatic curries, creamy blue cheese parfaits, and more recognisable options like the honey-glazed Mexican pork belly.

Side dishes at Archipelago in Fitzrovia are just as exotic, with Colombian queen leaf eater ants available to much on. To drink, there is a diverse wine list of international vintages, and some signature cocktails with eclectic infusions.

A truly unique restaurant in London that is perfect for the adventurous diner, Archipelago is a 5-minute walk from Goodge Street Tube Station.

Dishes displayed on a la carte menus are representative of the type of food available at the restaurant.

Food wasn't very good and not so much exotic. The first contact with the boss was terrible : after a credit card caution he says to me when I arrive : you're a very Lucky Guy because I arrive at 20:05 instead of 20:00... In reality, thinking about it now, I think that I would be lucky if he refused me at this moment. I paid 180 pounds for 2 adults and 2 childrens for spicies meats... And at thé end 18% for the employee and service : no ody says me goodbye when I leave the table... It's a food rubbery !!! Get away !!!

Great booking and table service. Disappointed with the different meals and desserts, it is too expensive for what it is (insect meals). The kangaroo was good but the crocodile meat wasn't of the same quality.

Good service but the food was pretty underwhelming. It was ok, and obviously the exotic nature of the dishes makes the experience quite interesting but our whole party thought it was all just a bit plain. Very little in the way of sauces or garnish, uninterestingly presented, and rather expensive for what it was. Not bad for an experience but I doubt anyone goes back in a hurry... it wasn’t very busy even in the middle of the Xmas dinner season and I suspect that’s why.

As you enter the door you realise that your meal is going to be a completely different experience. The decor is so exotic, but comfortable and welcoming. The staff were charming and explained the menu and dishes. We had the lunchtime taster menu which was incredible from the kangaroo to the alpaco.

It was incredible, great variety of exotic foods which although a tad expensive, I’d recommend highly. The eclectic decorations and aesthetics were also fantastic.

The menu was served with detail, it created excitement. We liked the interior, although the tables could be bigger to feel more comfortable.
