Restaurant description

One of the most unusual restaurants in London, Archipelago is a colourful den of exotic and adventurous flavours. Sample everything from crocodile and kangaroo meat, all in a seductive setting of tribal masks, fertility statues and peacock feathers.

The Archipelago menu is a true taste of the exotic and experimental. Hot and spicy jerked alpaca is served with candy beetroot, while sweet chilli smoked python carpaccio comes with green tea and wasabi crackers for that Asian-influenced crunch. There are aromatic curries, creamy blue cheese parfaits, and more recognisable options like the honey-glazed Mexican pork belly.

Side dishes at Archipelago in Fitzrovia are just as exotic, with Colombian queen leaf eater ants available to much on. To drink, there is a diverse wine list of international vintages, and some signature cocktails with eclectic infusions.

A truly unique restaurant in London that is perfect for the adventurous diner, Archipelago is a 5-minute walk from Goodge Street Tube Station.

Dishes displayed on a la carte menus are representative of the type of food available at the restaurant.

So quirky inside, very good service, the host explained every dish to perfection. We started with Python and crispy zebra. Both were very tasty. Mains we had the crocodile curry and Ostrich steak, the Ostrich steak being the highlight of the meal personally. We also had mealworm, silkworm and locust salad as a side dish which was surprisingly tasty even if a little crunchy. Price was around £130 for myself and my wife which was expensive but after reading the reviews beforehand, expected. We were on a break for our wedding anniversary so didn’t mind paying the price for a special occasion. In summary, amazing food, great service and fab decor. Ok you will pay a bit more here than a usual run of the mill restaurant but this is definitely not a normal restaurant, if you like something totally different but a totally enjoyable experience, I recommend Archipelago.

Really enjoyed a unique lunch as a whole family. Loved the quirky environment. Great food with some unusual dishes - insects, crocodile, kangaroo & lama meat. Would definitely dine here again.

It was my daughters 30th birthday when we visited Archipelago in London. The food was amazing, the attention to detail and the service was fantastic. We were made to feel very welcome. The decor was out of this world, so quirky but so well thought out and it worked wonderfully . Between us we had python, zebra, chicken, mealworms, crocodile, and it was beautifully cooked and laid out. We couldn’t choose a favourite as it was all so good . They also went the extra mile and served up a lovely chocolate with happy birthday iced on it .

We were greeted into the restaurant by very friendly staff and spent the first few minutes just looking around. The decor is very unusual and there are a lot of interesting things to look at. The food was unusual, reasonably priced, well presented and most importantly delicious. There was a decent wine list to go along with the food also. The restaurant is slightly off the beaten track, but also happens to be on the same street as a really nice wine bar (Remedy) which is an ideal place to go on to afterwards.
