We visited the restaurant on Saturday 6th January for afternoon tea, we had paid for our friends to join us as a gift. I have to say I was actually a bit disappointed. The restaurant receives great reviews online and I am sure that it is great but the afternoon tea was lacking, there were very few sandwiches for 4 people, I asked for coffee and it was like drinking hot milky water, there were no fruit scones which my husband was very disappointed with, all in all I didn't think it was worth the money paid for it. The restaurant itself was very pleasant and clean.

The dining room in this delightful boutique hotel is tastefully decorated and the centre piece wooden structure of a tree provides an air of light sophistication. The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful and only to willing to provide an explanation of any dish. We had pre-warned the restaurant that one of our party had an allergic reaction to garlic. This proved difficult as many dishes which did contain garlic, which was most, were not noted as doing so the menu. Of course we checked with the staff who in turn had to refer to the chef. All of this took time and would have been remedied by a more informative menu. All the dishes we had were well prepared and tasty but the inclusion of garlic, albeit sparingly done, in a large number of dishes (Example: Camembert Starter for sharing) wasn’t necessary and we found ourselves questioning the chef’s reasoning. Despite this we had a good dining experience but from memory, as we had dined here before, the chef then as now is providing a good dining rather than a great one.

The staff were very welcoming and found me somewhere comfortable to sit while I waited for my companion. They took our coats and offered us a choice of where to sit. Once we had chosen our table they pulled out the chairs and told us the options we had for our afternoon tea. Everything they brought they told us what it was and that the chef on the premises had made everything himself. They were happy to bring more tea when we asked. Service was excellent throughout.

The service was a bit off-hand - this could have been a culturally related problem.
By 1.15 pm on a Sunday, they had run out of roast beef, and were offering roast pork instead. I did not find this acceptable. The same boiled vegetables were served with grilled fish as with roast turkey. Not the gourmet experience I had been led to expect.

Gorgeous setting, loved the tree, perfectly placed seating - busy but enough space for earache table. The food was outstanding, some of the best i've eaten. I had the tomato starter - so light and refreshing. The Cajun Pork for main, again delicious and a sumptuous ginger pudding. I have previously had the salmon starter and the moroccan lamb for main (which i have to say, stands out for me!) Deliciuos all round and very attentive service. Highly recommend ??

Really enjoyed our lunch at Arbor for our son's graduation. Food was very good , particularly the fish options. Service was welcoming and attenrive. The restaurant itself was attractive and appreciated the extra table decoration to mark the event.

The staff were excellent, friendly and polite. My crab starter was delicious, with the hint of apple really highlighting the flavour. I was disappointed with my main meal as I was expecting there to be some mussels accompanying the sea bass. The mussel sauce was too thick and gloopy and I am not a great lover of pak choi. The wine was good and reasonably priced.
