A charming Italian eatery on the bustling Upper Street in Islington, Antonio's Ristorante is a rustic setting to enjoy dishes from the Calabria region of Italy. Inside, the exposed brick walls and flickering candlelight make this a wonderfully intimate venue, while upstairs there is a buzzing antipasti bar, perfect for light bites or a pre-theatre glass of wine.

The Antonio's Ristorante menu covers all kinds of Mediterranean flavours, starting off with antipasti choices like grilled lamb sausages, battered prawns, and fresh bruschetta. Homemade pasta specialities include black ink tagliatelle, and pappardelle with wild boar ragu, with a selection of hand-stretched pizzas also being a popular choice.

Carefully sourced wines from across Italy are served at Antonio's Ristorante in Islington, along with a superb grappa selection. For pudding, tuck into moist tiramisu, or the Italian take on English bread and butter pudding.

Also serving dedicated pre-theatre menus, Antonio's Ristorante is a versatile Italian restaurant in London just a 10-minute walk from Angel Tube Station.

Absolutely wonderful experience. The staff were really friendly, the atmosphere was authentic and romantic. I’ve lived in Italy for a year and the food here was so authentic and delicious. We both had the tagliatelle bolegnese and I had tiramisu. The bread was warm and fresh. It was a wonderful dinner and I would go back in a heartbeat!

Perfect for anyone going to a show at the Almeida.

We had a great time, food was wonderful, full of flavour and the atmosphere was totally family centred. The staff went out of their way to make our evening special. A complementary drink on the house was offered but we were all too full to take anything else on! Thank you for a great night. See you again.

Excellent service. Great ambiance. My dish was excellent - my friend felt her main dish. pasta with clams was a little ungenerous and indeed it did look a bit small to me.. Otherwise cant fault

We had the pre-theatre menu before visiting the Almeida. What a lovely find for us! We've been dining at other nearby restaurants but decided to give this a try and will most definitely return. The menu is extensive - we had sea bream on spinach and patè and bruschetta as starters - both were delicious. The service was friendly and very quick - they asked if we were going to theatre. We will definitely return to enjoy it when we have no theatre.
