Featured in The Good Food Guide, Andover House in Great Yarmouth creates modern European food from local produce. There is also an outdoor terrace and bar lounge for al fresco dining and sampling the lengthy wine and spirits list.

Start with confit duck leg with puy lentil salad, potted smoked trout with cucumber pickle, or Thai fish cakes with a mango and coriander salsa. Mains on the Andover House menu include pan-seared calf’s liver with chargrilled polenta, curly kale, onion confit and red wine sauce, smoked haddock with seafood chowder, poached egg and wilted spinach, and steaks with a choice of sauce. Vegetarians aren’t left out, with Mediterranean vegetable stack, topped with goats’ cheese and roasted pepper coulis amongst the options.

Desserts at Andover House include a white and dark chocolate pot with milk chocolate biscuits, a pear and almond tartlet, and a local cheese board with chutney and oatcakes. The décor is smart and minimalist, with original fireplaces and wall paintings helping to retain a homely feel.

Just metres from the beach, Andover House restaurant is a 7-minute drive from Great Yarmouth Train Station.

Restaurant smart and clean. Think that for the price the portions could have been bigger- perhaps more vegetables.

    The cod was really nice!

Food was amazing! Restaurant lovely clean and modern. Staff were attentive polite and professional. We will be going back for sure, now my fave Yarmouth restaurant. And even my husband was happy as although food was out of this world and was presented beautifully the portions were a good size so he was full

Pleasant ambiance and attentive staff, everywhere clean. Menu limited and rather expensive as were drinks and portions rather small.

Astonishing food of perfect size portions. Wine choice is exceptional and of superb value. The only recommendation we would make is to offer bottled water on the table.

Breakfast was Smoked Haddock Royal which (having had Hake the night before) proved that they have an excellent fishmonger and chef.

Service was smooth and non-obtrusive: Flawless.

Excellent service and impressive food. Hard to fault any aspect of the evening. The ham hock starter and 'special' lamb main course were probably the highlights.
