Breakfast was a shambles. The person who takes your room number then goes off to find a cleared table or goes into the kitchen or moves a table away from the low autumn sun pouring in through 20ft. high windows and the queue gets longer. Get a dedicated person to take diners to a table. Clear the tables. Purchase an additional toaster. Light the burners under the food containers and the queues get longer. Learn how to prepare coffee 4 pots during 2 breakfasts and not one was drinkable. Dinner. Food was good , but the Restaurant is devoid of any atmosphere or ambiance due to 20ft. ceiling and blasting air con.

Excellent service from start to finish. Quickly seated, immediately asked for a drinks order and made aware of who our server would be for the night. Our server Ben Winson was incredibly attentive and very chatty. He was able to ensure we had the best experience we possibly could have had! Our starter was absolutely delicious as was the main, although the steak was undercooked on one side that was our only small complaint. We were then presented with dessert and as it was my birthday, there was also a slice of birthday cake! Overall a fantastic experience.

We had afternoon tea and it was hot and a bit of a breeze. Table wasn’t ready for when we arrived so had to wait. Manager kindly offered a class of bubbley while we waited which was a nice touch. However, the sandwiches were dry. This could have been from the heat and wind but they should ad least be fresh when placed on the table. I would have expected better quality bread too. It was just plain white and brown. We were offered refill tea pots but had to ask again for milk. Scones were missing butter too. We had a lovely afternoon but would expect more for £20 a head.

The restaurant was empty all the time we were there. We were the only clients there. Yet we sat there for 20 minutes before we asked someone to take our drinks order. The young lad who took the order didn't have any paper, so wrote the order on his arm. It took a further 10 minutes to for the drinks to come out. The young lad told us the kitchen were just making our sandwiches, but when they arrived, they had clearly been left out for a short while. Not the standards I would expect at this establishment. However, this is the third time I've take people here for afternoon tea, and I would still recommend going there, as the other two times was lovely.

Initially all looked and felt fine. Escorted to a table, menu explained, that’s when it started to unravel - it was either a Carvery or Pub Grub. But in the Waiter’s defence he did ask if we had been told previously of the choices. Wine Waiter came in too quick so we asked for a couple of minutes, then another Wine Waiter came all too soon, so once again we asked for a couple of minutes. Water was not offered while we pondered the Wine List, or at any other time. Choices made Waiter summoned and order made. One Waiter, I noticed, not ours, found time to be attentive on another table, ensuring wine glasses were topped up. I didn’t get that experience, and it is for that that I mark the Restaurant down.

Lovely atmosphere and as a large group we were looked after very well. Great food, I enjoyed a Ham hock salad - very generous portion! and the Melt in the middle chocolate pudding was unreal.

Layout of dining room didn't work. A la carte diners were not able to have an intimate meal as we were disturbed by being seated next to the carvery, whilst those diners were sat at the far end of the restaurant and had to walk through the restaurant to get their meal. We removed ourselves to the quieter end of the dining hall away from the carvery but this meant the waiting staff were less present, so service suffered.

Excellent service, friendly attentive and not overbearing. We never felt rushed or uncomfortable at any point. We went for afternoon tea. Excellent choice of teas, sandwiches and an amazing array of beautifully tasting and presented cakes. Scones were plentiful with plain and fruit catering for all tastes. A fantastic afternoon.
