This was my first dining experience at All Bar One, but I will not come back. The service was fairly slow and the waitress was unaware of the special deal (2 courses for £10.00) I had booked for. This was acknowleged though, after she had checked with the manager. I ordered the squid and my friend the avocado bruscetta for starters. We both preferred the squid, which however was only just warm when it arrived. It was fine, but it wasn't brought to us straight after cooking. The bruscetta was slightly soggy and nothing special. For mains we had the Pad Thai, which was very healthy and fine, although nothing special. Probably what you can expect for the price. The atmosphere was lively and noisy. Occasionally hard to have a conversation.

The food was very good and the service excellent in view of the general bustle of the restaurant on a Saturday evening. Indeed, we had an excellent evening until we came to the bill when we had to work quite hard to ensure that the terms of the £10 offer were met. The manager to whom we spoke was perfectly polite and dealt with the situation in a wholly friendly manner. The problem appeared to be at the level of the briefing (or lack thereof) from higher levels in the company. We won't let this put us off visiting All Bar One again. However, I would advise anyone acting on an offer to take with them (as we did) documentary evidence.

They are always so under-staffed at 'All Bar One' establishments. They never have enough floor staff to clear the tables and keep the venue clean. I went to the New Oxford Street one last night for Australia Day and it was absolutely packed. They just didn't have the staff to handle it. I went to the Holborn one last weekend and it was just as bad. We waited over 20 minutes to be served for a drink and the venue was a pigsty. It's happened on enough occasions now that I doubt I will go back to there bars.
