Had a super dinner. Excellent food, excellent wine. Superb service. Only negative is that it was not well signposted!

Good ambient. Had to wait rather long at the reception. The service could be better. Had to ask to get water refilled. The lighting at the table was rather dark. I could just about to see what I was eating. The food was good but nothing amazing. The chef came out to greet one table only which I felt rather offended with this arrogant attitude. Dessert menu was asked but not offered by the staff.

Truly excellent cooking: the vegetarian amongst our group said it was the best tasting meal she'd ever had. The non-veggies enjoyed crab, trout and lamb, all of which were very good. Nice choices in the wine list. Service might be a tad over enthusiastic for some, but suited our birthday meal well, and staff responded well to our requests. Overall, a memorable evening. However, the cocktail bar decor and furniture doesn't match the dining experience, and we were never really comfortable on stools, with our knees pressed to the base of a poser table.

The positives: Tasty food, great staff (friendly and efficient). Got us in the mood for the evening's Billy Joel concert by playing requests we made for Billy Joel songs. Nice decor within the restaurant. Low priced wine, most quality restaurants rip you off with wine prices. The negatives: Only a choice of 3 plates for each of the 3 courses, very restrictive. Tiny starter & main course portions within a 3 course meal, more akin to taster menu portions. Extremely long wait between courses. They sat us in what would best be described as arm chairs at relatively low tables, something you might expect to use for a late evening supper. No Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc on wine list, big ommision. The meals: 3 of us had King Crab Starter, which was good taste-wise but less than 2 mouthfuls, very disappointed with that. 1 of us had chicken parfait, again small but tasty. All 4 of us had Shoulder of lamb as a main also tasted good, but little with it bar a large portion of fried new potatoes.

The decor is amazing, even if you are not a golf enthusiast - as we re not. The "small plate" menu is brilliant; a kind of modern British tapas. The "everything on the menu" for four people is exquisite. Every if some of you are not keen on a particular time there is enough to go round. There were odd occasions when 3 items between 4 could have been helped with 4 items, as with the gorgeous pork belly. The service was very personable, the two waiters serving us went out if their way to make to whole meal most memorable.
