Half of the tables were dirty or not set up. We did not get any attention from the staff. Not exactly what we expected from a afternoon tea in such a hotel.

Disappointing experience, service was poor, food was average, especially as it had been booked for a celebration.

I booked for me and a friend to come as a birthday gift though bookatable.
It was a shambles first of all the food arrived looking old and rather bland with the sandwich lifting away from the filings and the bread rather stale, I had pre emailed the dietary requirements which were one vegetarian option and we were met with 4 sandwiches all the same pepper and homous? Not very imaginative, the least you would expect would be maybe a egg and cress too?!
I’d booked the free flowing afternoon tea at extra expense and this was very poor, I’ve been to many bottomless brunches across London and your glass is never left empty whereas yesterday over the 2 hours my glass was empty the majority of the time even for over 20 minutes at one occasion. Which we found very stingy.
There was a % service fee added to the bill which given the choice I wouldn’t have paid as the service was slow and inattentive.
Overall very disappointing afternoon tea which cost more than £110 and we both left the The Waldorf Hilton thirsty and hungry. Definitely won’t be returning.

It was disappointing, the restaurant was chaotic, so I could hear people around chasing their waiters to order/follow up food. We had to chase to get a menu and order. The afternoon tea was very dry, the cakes, bread for sandwiches and scones all tasted like they had been left out all afternoon. The only saving grace was the unlimited champagne and the waitress we ended up having was very friendly and attentive, although the restaurant had started to clear by this point.

The service was poor. We were left sitting for more than 30mins with no food/drink or even an order being taken. In the end I had to approach the desk and ask for some service.
We kept having to ask for our glass to be refilled, it was clear that despite being bottomless and time limited, they wanted to restrict your intake. My friend also ordered a cocktail which didn’t arrive but was on the final bill.
Towards the end, the staff switched off the lights in the room as a signal that we should leave. It would have been far more polite to approach us and just explain that the service was coming to an end.
Our actual waiter was a nice chap.
The food was ok but nothing special.

Our visit didn't get off to a very good start. We'd booked for 1pm, and were on a tight schedule as we had a theatre matinee to attend, but we, and several other guests were left waiting until about 5 past 1. Not a huge delay, but not the sort of punctuality one would expect from this establishment. However, after that, the service and food were exemplary. The choice of tea was impressive, and the food was tasty, if a bit unimaginative. Ham & Mustard, coronation chicken, egg & cress, & tuna & cucumber were the sandwich fillings on offer which was quite run of the mill. The scones and pasties were lovely.
I paid partially with a voucher and was told I should have informed them of this before eating, and with a huff, the bill was taken away as reissued. Again, not a response I would have expected.
Overall, the tea was enjoyable and the surroundings lovely, but I feel that a premier establishment like The Waldorf could have gone the extra mile

Booked online with Bookatable for a table for 15.30 for 2 people for £42 each with free flowing prosecco but when we got there was told that it was only free flowing champagne for £55 each. Waitress didn’t seem to know about the offer & said she would look into it but never came back to us about it. Thought that was a bit naughty as it made us pay more than we originally intended!

WOW! I had booked 4 people for the 'free flowing afternoon tea' via Bookatable for my Nanas 85th birthday and after reading some reviews I was a little nervous. But we were not disappointed at all and I would certainly recommended this venue and the Afternoon Tea.
We arrived just after 2pm and the room was already busy but we were seated very quickly and after a short wait our tea order was taken and a glass of champagne brought to each of us. Yes we did have to wait a little while for our sandwiches and cake but afternoon tea shouldn't be rushed and each waiter was bale to gave his/her table their undivided attention. The harpist played such a variety of old and new songs and it really helped with the ambience of the room.
If our glasses needed refilling we just asked (instead of waiting) as the staff were busy. All the sandwiches tasted beautiful and our favorites were the salmon blini and coronation wheel. The scones where light and the perfect size as we each had 2 each (1 fruit & 1 plain) plus 4 small cakes, which again were light and tasted great. We couldn't finish all the cakes so asked for a box so we could take them home as there was no way we were leaving them behind.
From start to finish all the staff we spoke to were very friendly and attentive and the service was impeccable. My Grandmother uses a wheelchair and we were assisted by the doorman all the way through to the room and again everyone was so friendly.
