At The Palm Court, Tea at The Ritz is a sophisticated British tradition that should not be missed. A proud member of the Tea Council's esteemed Tea Guild, Tea at The Ritz is served in the impressive Palm Court on Piccadilly.
A minute away from Green Park station, surrounded by the boutique shops and Royal Parks of London, the grand setting of The Ritz is famous the world over. In this enchanting landmark, residents and tourists alike are invited to indulge in a most exquisite afternoon tea. Delicate sandwiches, freshly baked jam and clotted cream scones, and a choice of dainty pastries accompany an eclectic selection of teas. You can also celebrate a special occasion by enhancing your tea further with cake and a glass of champagne.
The Ritz London has a dress code in different areas of the hotel as follows: Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie (jeans and sportswear are not permitted for either ladies or gentlemen) for afternoon tea in The Palm Court and for lunch and dinner in The Ritz Restaurant and Terrace. In all other areas of the hotel (The Ritz Restaurant breakfast service, The Rivoli Bar, The Long Gallery) and The Ritz Club, smart casual attire is required. Please note that shorts, trainers and sportswear are not permitted in any of the hotel or Club’s restaurants or bars.

Customer reviews for Afternoon Tea at The Ritz

Afternoon tea (with glass of champagne) was amazing. Palm court is outstanding and the service 5 star. It is unlimited tea and sandwiches, the pastries and warm scones are to die for. You need to be hungry for this experience because then there is cake to finish

I thought the place was lovely service very nice and helpful enjoyed it except food. I thought the bread for sandwiches was dry and the scones were warm to start but after a few minutes they were very tough and hard. Cakes weren’t as nice as I thought they might be. Suggests to me sandwiches were made too far in advance and kept too long or stored in correctly. Cakes suggest they were pre bought in and not made by hotel. Champagne was very nice.

A lovely ambience with the pianist playing, a beautiful classic afternoon tea and they catered well for my little girl who is dairy free. She loves it here and we’ve been a few times. Highly recommended for a classic version or afternoon tea at its finest!

The tea service started with a prompt introduction from our server Sebastian. He explained our food and beverage options including an optional glass of champagne which we ordered. Our individual pots of tea arrived and the first cups were poured by the wait staff. Shortly after that, cake stands were brought to the table with a plate of sandwiches for each of us and a top plate of desserts to share. We were promised warm scones to follow but it was an additional thirty minutes before those were delivered. The finger sandwiches were delightful but after the first glass of champagne was poured and consumed, we were never asked if we wanted a refill. In addition, other tables had their tea cups refilled by the wait staff but we were left to pour our own refills. We were perfectly capable of pouring our own tea but when other tables are being extended this courtesy, it seemed slightly rude to ignore our table. The desserts, consisting of a pear tart, hazelnut mousse, and a strawberry meringue were a perfect note to end the tea service. I would recommend tea at the Ritz just for the experience but keep your expectations in check for service levels.

The service was fantastic. Loved the little brioche with egg salad.
An hour to sit can feel a little rushed. But we got our table a little earlier, so we were fine.

Ein Erlebnis, beeindruckend und faszinierend. Ein muss für jeden London-Trip. Geld darf allerdings keine Rolle spielen. Aber wie oft macht man das schon.

A very special treat bought as a wedding anniversary present.
The setting is outstanding. A wide choice of teas, possibly slightly too large a serving of sandwiches, cakes and scones. Then the trolley came with more cakes! Don’t eat lunch! The servers were very attentive. You don’t get to top up your tea cups. Piano music added to the ambience.
My wife cannot eat dairy. We called a few days ahead of our booking.
Many cafes can’t give her anything she can eat. The Ritz served as wide a range for her as for me. Her cakes looked at least as temping. They tasted great. The non-dairy cream she was given for her scones was an excellent alternative. So - non-dairy high tea can be done! Very many places just aren’t interested in trying.
Think we’re just going to have to return to remind ourselves how good it was!
