Wonderful from start to finish..Our waitress Leanne was lovely and extremely knowledgable..The tea room was exquisite and made you feel you were in a bygone era..The food was delicious and I couldn't pick a favourite to save my life!!..A wonderful treat and one I shall share with my friends and family and I hope to come back again very soon.

Good ambience, good food and excellent service. Without doubt it is the service you're paying for. The tearoom itself is comfortable but the decor is more taupe and molded MDF than bygone elegance - well they do describe the room as 'new fashioned' (sigh). While difficult to describe a flavor from a written description the tea two of us chose was undoubtedly an acquired taste, a feat neither of us managed. The tea had something to do with trains. The cakes and scones were delicious and the clotted cream far too wonderful for our own good. Sandwiches were OK but, and this might just be me, with such small slivers I feel the bread to filling ratio leaves you feeling all your tasting is a (rather ordinary) sliced loaf. Where the experience does live up to the elegance of yesterday is the service. We were waited on in style . One of our party had dietary requirements and this was handled discreetly and expertly. From the removal of our coats to the cloakroom to the time they returned them the staff couldn't have been more helpful.

Disappointing, was told to wait 15 minutes after the booked time as we needed to wait for a table to become available, after hanging around outside for a while we were shown in to an almost empty room with many empty tables. After being seated we had to wait a further 20 minutes for someone to take our drinks order. Sandwiches were poor, beef sandwich did not contain any of the accompaniments shown on the menu, and the beetroot was simply bread and butter. Cakes were OK, however from the 3 fruit scones we had we managed to find 7 raisins between us, this helped to kill the time whilst we waited 10 minutes for the "silver service Jam service", please just give people some pots of jam and better service though I suppose it would be difficult to justify almost £30 per head for a couple of rounds of poor sandwiches and a few cakes if they didn't do this.

I booked this afternoon tea with a glass of champagne experience for 3 family members as a Christmas present. On arrival they were greeted pleasantly and their coats taken. Table was ready on arrival and set beautifully. They tell me that overall the food was excellent and they were told to ask for more if required. Service at the start was excellent spoiled only by the failure of the glass of champagne to arrive. So sadly service not excellent! As it was a present they decided not to make a fuss but I was disappointed to hear that they did not get what I had actually booked for them.

From the booking to leaving the experience was wonderful. It was a Christmas treat for my mother and sister in law, they loved every minute. The only criticism we could think of was we thought there were too many sweet things, but will be back again,

Very disappointed, this was xmas present for my sister however we were seated in corridor near the toilets looking over partion into main room, when I asked if we could move to an empty table I was told it was already booked but it was still empty when we left. The sandwiches were dry and fillings under seasoned, the green icing looked and tasted revolting on the cakes, only the scones were up to standard. Not sure if service was soo bad due to time of year as I had been previously and had lovely experience but had to apologise to my sister for really poor xmas present.

We come every year for afternoon tea. This year the service didn’t seem as good as usual. We were not offered any tea or coffee and had to ask. Not the end of the world but we did feel that the staff were not as attentive as previous years. We always have the afternoon tea and an extra few glasses of champagne. I’d still recommend to family and friends.
