I was disappointed with the afternoon tea. It looked great but the cakes were far too sweet & sickly and we did not think much of the sandwiches either. We did not eat most of it and were still hungry. I have had better & tastier afternoon teas for a lot less money!

The Midland hotel is a great building you feel comfortable and the staff Paul and one other was very helpful. When my wife and I sat down They ask how we were . how was are day going and that made us feel very relaxed as it was are first time in a grand hotel like the midland it was also my wife birthday .we was asked to start with if we had any allergies and my wife as so that was great that was being asked right at the beginning . We did not feel we was being rushed either . The difference desserts was great choice and very tasty. The sandwiches was ok but one or two more would have been nice as they did not look a lot for two people' .but in saying that they were very fresh and the fillings was great we had a wonderful day and that's a big thanks to the Midland for making my wife feel very special. Ps some music would have been nice .Say someone playing the harp or a piano in the back grand away from people. We will definitely be visiting again only it will be for dinner next time.

A very pleasant experience however when asking for a box to take the remaining cakes we were given children’s boxes that resembled McDonalds Happy Meals which was quite offensive and should not have happened. This is not what we expected from The Midland Very bad that there was not a bar open and Restaurants only open at 5pm

I booked afternoon tea with my Mother and Grandmother for my mums 60th. When I arrived at the Midland I was far from impressed- as the whole place was a total building site !! The noise was distressing for my two young babies, the tea rooms weren't available we were put in a different room and the lobby in the Midland was unrecognisable and pulled down. The main reason I chose the midland was for its beautiful grand feel and for its class, and as it was my Mums 60th, a big birthday. I was more than disappointed with how the day actually turned out for her. The room we were put in was lovely and the afternoon tea was, in my opinion, okay. There wasn't much customer service, and even the small detail of the lovely take away boxes that my Mum repeatedly mentioned, were actually replaced by a brown paper bag. To be honest if I had the chance I would have chosen to spend my money elsewhere.

I wasn't told the hotel was undergoing refurbishment. We were put in a dark partitioned part of the restaurant and were forgotten about, the service was atrocious. Not what I expected to experience when I booked as a treat for my mother and husband.

We had afternoon tea. It was very disappointing, sandwiches were hard seemed stale, hardly anything in them, it was mostly bread no filling, the cakes weren't anything special, the best were the scones, needed more sandwiches and less cakes. I won't be returning and it certainly wasn't worth the money we paid. The hotel wasn't what I expected, the dining room was too modern for the outside of the hotel. Very disappointed.
