The food of the afternoon tea was good and plenty but the service was rather bad. It took a long time to be seated despite having a reservation and not all tables were occupied.
We didn't get the menu for a long time. Then they forgot to bring the milkshake for the kid. They brought us the bill in the middle of our afternoon tea since they had mixed us up with another table. When we wanted to eat the scones, it took a very long time until they brought us the jams and they forgot to bring the clotted cream as well. So in summary very poor service for a place that wants to be upper scale.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience for my mums 70th birthday. Service at the beginning was excellent. Very swift and efficient. I had the Vegan option and was impressed with the sandwiches but some of the deserts were poor I am afraid. Two of the cakes were stale but tasty. The scones were also very stodgy and the Soya cream....well, that was a disaster. It was awful. No taste at all. Maybe add some sugar at least and mix through some margarine. Truly horrible.
My mum chose a traditional tea which was excellent. Service a the end was poor. We had to wait a long time to catch the eye of a member of staff to get the bill. Just a little gripe.

We had a lovely time at the Midland tea.

Plenty of sandwiches and cakes to enjoy. Staff were so great and made it a very memorable event for us all

The Tea Room was a wonderful afternoon spent on my own. The ambiance was amazing and the staff was exceptional. The snadwiches were very good even if the main ingredients are just about the same as you get anywhere else but the kitchen crew has ade a few twists that makes them exciting. the scones were a bit hard but the jams were to amazing! I loved the lemon curd the best. I never thought lemon curd and scones will go together but it did. The personal colllection tea of the Tea Room was also very good. I wish I could take home a pack of those. The cakes were also very delicious but after all the sandwiches and scones, i can only manage to try a bit of each of them. I will definitely go back and would highly recommend the Tea Room.

It was really lovely but I was disappointed that the staff were aware of dietary requirements for my table when I booked, they even mentioned that they knew about the dietary requirements and the asked us again, then it kind of felt like we were giving them a bit of trouble with it all :(
Whenever I go to a restaurant, I ensure that the establishment know of the dietary requirements to allow everyone involved to have an easier time of things on the day.

It was lovely to have a vegan afternoon tea and to feel that the same care and attention had gone into the preparation as the more traditional version. I am already planning my return visit.

Highly enjoyable, excellent service. Would have preferred more sandwiches and less cake though as cakes were more plentiful than the sandwiches.

Really enjoyed everything about the experience. The food, the service and the ambience, I felt as if I was in the era when afternoon tea was a regular feature. I will certainly return when I want to give my family or friends a treat.

Lovely setting for Afternoon Tea for my friends belated birthday . Sandwiches and cakes were amazing, as was the specialist blends of tea from the Midland Hotel. Our waiter was very knowledgable and said my particular tea would go well with whisky, so ordered an old fashioned cocktail and it didn’t disappoint. Service was very good. Would definitely come again.
