Mycket afternoon tea för pengarna! Väldigt generöst med bubbel och trevlig personal. Fantastiskt läge med oslagbar utsikt och oerhört mysig atmosfär.

Offering postcard-worthy views over Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, The Library serves up a delicious afternoon tea throughout the day and a sumptuous set supper at night. Located in the Marriott County Hall Hotel, The Library features oak bookcases stacked with the classics and busts of literary and historical figures like Shakespeare, Plato and Milton, which transport diners back to the glamorous era of the 1920s.

On The Library menu, afternoon tea features freshly cut finger sandwiches filled with reimagined classics like Paprika chicken with peppery rocket in Carrot and Coriander bread, Grilled pumpkin and fennel muffins and Mushroom, leek and brie cheese quiche in a multi-grain tart. Irresistible arrangements of cakes and fancies include Lemon thyme and praline meringue tart, Amarena cherry and dark chocolate brownie delice, as well as sweet and plain scones served with seasonal jams and clotted cream. Liquid accompaniments include fine leaf teas, flutes of champagne and botanical gin cocktails.

The Library also offers a fixed evening menu featuring a modern take on the classics like Slow Roasted Gloucestershire Old Spot Pork Belly, Pan Seared Wood Pigeon, Curried Lamb Shoulder and puddings such as Sticky Toffee and Apple and Cinnamon Tart . To bookend your evening, choose a tipple from the Art Deco-style after-dinner drinks trolley, which will make its way around the restaurant.

A quintessentially English retreat in one of the city’s most vibrant areas, The Marriot County Hall Hotel is 4 minutes’ walk from Waterloo Station. The Library London can be accessed via the main entrance on Westminster Bridge Road or alternatively, enter via the South Bank (Queen's Walk), above the London Aquarium. Valet parking is also available on site.

The window setting overlooking Westminster Bridge (which I'd requested at the time of booking) was perfect for our afternoon tea - and the fizz definitely kept flowing without any request from us! From our initial welcome throughout our meal we were looked after perfectly - professionally but with a sense of humour that suited us well. Aurora was attentive to our service, and time and care meant we understood the wide choice of teas available, the finger sandwich fillings (delicious different types of bread as well as fillings), the choice of scones (jam & cream of course) and the delectable patisserie. No rush, lots of space in the Library and welcoming staff throughout the hotel - the doorman excelled at finding three cabs for us on day of total downpour. Thanks to all for making our visit so thoroughly enjoyable and memorable. Would definitely return and recommend.

Lovely afternoon tea, a real sense of occasion, without being pretentious. Darryl the manager really does take pride in the service that's provided, and our waiter was lovely.

A lovely experience with good food. Table was delayed due to earlier fire alarm. Staff made sure we were looked after in the lounge bar while we waited.

This was a very pleasant experience. Obviously the building is listed and although it now houses the Marriott hotel, much of the original essence of the building remains. It did feel like dining in a Library, in the window overlooking The Thames and surrounded by books. The tables are well spaced out and it felt like a private dining experience.

It has a lovely bar and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. However, charging £9 each for a serving nuts and olives felt extortionate and this would normally have been complimentary, especially as we ordered two bottles of wine!

The food was great, every course was thoroughly enjoyed from the three course set menu. I would recommend dining here - perhaps take your own bar snacks!

    An absolutely fabulous venue
This was my eighth visit in three years but I was quite disappointed with the overall service that we received
They admitted to being understaffed and that was really obvious given that the attentiveness was far below their normal standards
Will visit again and hope this was only a blip

A group of ten did the afternoon tea with bottomless bubbles. Lovely sandwiches (and not a problem to get extras!), delicious scones & a good seclection of desserts. We enjoyed choosing our teas from the extensive range & the bubbles flowed nicely. The gluten free options were also very good. We were there for a birthday celebration & surprised us with a lovely cake also - really nice touch. Highly recommend!
