Offering postcard-worthy views over Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, The Library serves up a delicious afternoon tea throughout the day and a sumptuous set supper at night. Located in the Marriott County Hall Hotel, The Library features oak bookcases stacked with the classics and busts of literary and historical figures like Shakespeare, Plato and Milton, which transport diners back to the glamorous era of the 1920s.

On The Library menu, afternoon tea features freshly cut finger sandwiches filled with reimagined classics like chives and hot smoked salmon with crème fraîche in mini brioche buns, watercress egg mayo on brown loaf bread, and coronation chicken on carrot loaf bread. Irresistible arrangements of cakes and fancies include salted caramel chocolate cups, strawberry meringue nest and white chocolate raspberry tart, as well as sweet and savoury scones served with seasonal jams and artisanal cheeses. Liquid accompaniments include fine leaf teas, flutes of champagne and botanical gin cocktails.

The Library also offers a fixed evening menu featuring a modern take on the classics like seasonal game terrine with cranberry and orange jam, pan-fried cod with celeriac chips and pea salsa, and puddings such as gin and tonic syllabub served with candied cucumber. To bookend your evening, choose a tipple from the Art Deco-style after-dinner drinks trolley, which will make its way around the restaurant.

A quintessentially English retreat in one of the city’s most vibrant areas, The Marriot County Hall Hotel is 4 minutes’ walk from Waterloo Station. The Library London can be accessed via the main entrance on Westminster Bridge Road or alternatively, enter via the South Bank (Queen's Walk), above the London Aquarium. Valet parking is also available on site.

The Library is an extremely elegant dining room with tables spread out across the room and not too close together. We were lucky enough to have a table by the window looking out on the Thames. The service was very efficient & friendly. We had the set menu for £29 which included a glass of prosecco. For starters we had prawn cocktail and corned beef hash both of which were delicious. For mains we had fish pie and chicken wrapped in parma ham. These were beautifully presented and tasted as good as they looked. We did order an additional side dish of triple cooked chips but, unfortunately, these were not particularly good quality. For desserts we both had the Irish cream cheesecake with coffee ice cream. This was very light but delicious and not too sweet. There are a range of beers and wines on offer. The wine seemed somewhat overpriced and so we stuck with beer (a good selection of draught and bottled) and soft drinks.

A lovely afternoon. Great location with historic views.
We couldn’t finish all of the T and the fizz kept coming. The staff were friendly and just attentive enough without being a bother.
    Already planning our next visit.

We arrived at the restaurant on a very hot day, The staff were welcoming and we were offered the complimentary glass of bubbles (CAVA). We each chose our dinner from the set menu together with a wine. The restaurant was quite empty when we arrived, but we were shown to a nice seat by the window overlooking Westminster bridge.
The food was adequate and the wine was excellent. All in all a very pleasant evening meal with friends

To be honest I was a bit disappointed overall after receiving this place as a recommendation. The food was lovely, unfortunately the poor service ruined the experience. A number or waitresses asked us the same things, resulting in us having to wait longer for things. We were offered teas, we explained we were wanting the prosecco, then after 15 minutes another waitress asked the same, then we had to wait another 15 minutes until we got a drink, then when the time limit was up it was based on when we arrived not when we actually got our first drink. We waited for our food (afternoon tea), it was brought to our table then for some reason it was taken away again. They were very strict about the time limit, which I don’t mind (it is standard for an afternoon Tea), but for the price and the poor service for a place of this standard is disappointing. Such a shame as it is one of my favourites in regards to location, and the food was lovely.
