Offering postcard-worthy views over Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, The Library serves up a delicious afternoon tea throughout the day and a sumptuous set supper at night. Located in the Marriot County Hall Hotel, The Library features oak bookcases stacked with the classics and busts of literary and historical figures like Shakespeare, Plato and Milton, which transport diners back to the glamorous era of the 1920s.

On The Library menu, afternoon tea features freshly cut finger sandwiches filled with reimagined classics like chives and hot smoked salmon with crème fraîche in mini brioche buns, watercress egg mayo on brown loaf bread, and coronation chicken on carrot loaf bread. Irresistible arrangements of cakes and fancies include salted caramel chocolate cups, strawberry meringue nest and white chocolate raspberry tart, as well as sweet and savoury scones served with seasonal jams and artisanal cheeses. Liquid accompaniments include fine leaf teas, flutes of champagne and botanical gin cocktails.

The Library also offers a fixed evening menu featuring a modern take on the classics like seasonal game terrine with cranberry and orange jam, pan-fried cod with celeriac chips and pea salsa, and puddings such as gin and tonic syllabub served with candied cucumber. To bookend your evening, choose a tipple from the Art Deco-style after-dinner drinks trolley, which will make its way around the restaurant.

A quintessentially English retreat in one of the city’s most vibrant areas, The Marriot County Hall Hotel is 4 minutes’ walk from Waterloo Station. The Library London can be accessed via the main entrance on Westminster Bridge Road or alternatively, enter via the South Bank (Queen's Walk), above the London Aquarium. Valet parking is also available on site.

We booked a table for a dinner in Library offering set menu for 30 GBP per person and found it a good deal for this price. The steak was good, but of course not the best we have eaten. The service was also good. The only thing which was not pleasant was music. They should really do something with it. In general a very nice place to have a good dinner of you live nearby, but I would not say that it worth a special visit to this place.

Great restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere; we had a lovely table with a great view. Service was immaculate. We were (all 5 of us) delighted with the menu (Steak Ralph Knott may not be what you expect though) and the quality of the food we ordered, will definitely go there again; The £30 deal an absolute bargain. Thanks guys.

Main course Fish Stew was poor. I could count the small portions of fish on one hand. It even included a shell of shrimp with no flesh. Saffron potatoes were also missing and it was served with a tomato sauce rather than tomatoes. I was not able to complain until I received the menu again to choose my dessert. I received a discount but this did not compensate for a poor meal. No cloakroom. Our coats were on the back of our chairs.

Lovely restaurant overlooking the Thames. Food was excellent - there was a bit of a mix-up with the steaks where I mistakenly received the rare and my friend the medium - but it was quickly resolved and fresh steaks prepared with profuse apologies from the waiting staff who were very friendly.

The deserts were good but the rest of the food was average. They should think about changing the music and carpeting. However, the great view made up for the deficiencies.

The setting was beautiful, the atmosphere perfect, and the food delicious! We would go back in a heartbeat.

Let me first give the positive feedback; the view is fantastic.
Now on to the negative comments, baring in mind this was a treat for my wife's birthday...........
On arrival, we were directed to Gillray's restaurant, which is forgivable i suppose. On getting to the Library restaurant (no great deal, next door down really) we were shown to our table, which was in a cold area with a defective radiator. This may not seem the biggest issue, but my wife kept her coat on for 10mins to warm up.
Starters were OK & for me the mussels were the best part of the meal. The chicken livers are just that & my wife was expecting it to be more like a paté & was very heavy.
White wine at room temperature, returned.
I asked what the Steak Ralph Knott was on the menu, told it was a steak cooked in a sauce. So went for the fish stew. As it turned out the table next to us had ordered it & it was a grilled/griddled steak with a sauce on the side. The fish stew was nice but nothing more than that. The fish had never been anywhere near the tomatoes the whole cooking period, so I ended up with pan fried fish on a bed of tomato sauce.
The chicken was overpowered by a blue cheese that wasn't mentioned in the description & was far too rich for my wife, the mash was a sludgy consistency of the sauce/potato combo. Not nice.
Dessert was next & I am not making the next bit up, it really happened!
Wife: "what is the winter berry pudding exactly?
Waitress: "It is a pudding.......with berries.......of the winter. Like strawberries and that"
That cleared up, we talked between ourselves & i said it was probably a summer pudding type (it was). Wife choose it, but eat only half & didn't enjoy it. I went for the cheese, which came to the table sans knife. At this point I would like to say that the ineptitude of the service was possibly deliberate because I could then use the knife from the bread roll side plate again. Genius!
All in all, an utter disaster & would not recommend to go to anyone.

Lovely service, good food. All slightly rushed despite the restaurant being quite empty with no need to move people on quickly. Other than that, really nice with excellent views of Westminster.
