Offering postcard-worthy views over Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, The Library serves up a delicious afternoon tea throughout the day and a sumptuous set supper at night. Located in the Marriott County Hall Hotel, The Library features oak bookcases stacked with the classics and busts of literary and historical figures like Shakespeare, Plato and Milton, which transport diners back to the glamorous era of the 1920s.

On The Library menu, afternoon tea features freshly cut finger sandwiches filled with reimagined classics like chives and hot smoked salmon with crème fraîche in mini brioche buns, watercress egg mayo on brown loaf bread, and coronation chicken on carrot loaf bread. Irresistible arrangements of cakes and fancies include salted caramel chocolate cups, strawberry meringue nest and white chocolate raspberry tart, as well as sweet and savoury scones served with seasonal jams and artisanal cheeses. Liquid accompaniments include fine leaf teas, flutes of champagne and botanical gin cocktails.

The Library also offers a fixed evening menu featuring a modern take on the classics like seasonal game terrine with cranberry and orange jam, pan-fried cod with celeriac chips and pea salsa, and puddings such as gin and tonic syllabub served with candied cucumber. To bookend your evening, choose a tipple from the Art Deco-style after-dinner drinks trolley, which will make its way around the restaurant.

A quintessentially English retreat in one of the city’s most vibrant areas, The Marriot County Hall Hotel is 4 minutes’ walk from Waterloo Station. The Library London can be accessed via the main entrance on Westminster Bridge Road or alternatively, enter via the South Bank (Queen's Walk), above the London Aquarium. Valet parking is also available on site.

From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. Staff were very attentive and could not do enough for us. My one criticism would be that when we were presented with the bill which had a service charge already added the waitress asked if we wanted to leave a gratuity for the staff.
Personally I thought this was a little cheeky. In my opinion if there wasn't a service charge added to start with we would have left a gratuity without being asked.

Fabulous Afternoon Tea with free-flowing bubbles and they really did flow! Great ambience, beautifully presented delicious food and very friendly, efficient service. An extra celebratory cake for our friend's silver wedding anniversary was the perfect extra touch! Highly recommended.

A unique setting, an isle of calm from the manic hussle and bussle of the embankment. Staff were very attentive and especially considerate towards our pregnant friend who had a food allergy - really appreciated that! Recommend, I’d visit again in the future.

Had a great afternoon at The Library. Great setting overlooking the River Thames and The Houses of Parliament and very close to The London Eye. Arrived early so had an amazing gin and tonic in the bar before heading into The Library for bottomless Presecco Afternoon Tea which was gorgeous. (The gin and tonic in the bar was so big the staff very kindly changed our Afternoon Tea to 30 minutes later so that we could sit in the bar, enjoy the views and savour our drink). All the staff were brilliantly attentive and friendly from arriving at the entrance of the hotel, to the bar staff and the staff serving in the Library, just the right amount of attention and fantastic service. Great time and would happily go again.

This was charming, a wonderful afternoon tea to have in London. The setting was great, I really enjoyed the cozy library atmosphere and the great view of the Thames out the window. Suggestion: I really like to have a printed card with descriptions of the sandwiches, scones, and treats served. The waiter described them all, but we found ourselves not remembering details as we tried each one.
