Beautiful room. Lovely service. Great selection of sandwiches and dazzling array of desserts served for afternoon tea. Delicious scones and a fantastic selection of tea.

Afternoon tea at the Lanesborough was everything I hoped for - very civilised and very pleasant. Only one gripe - on the website the set price was advertised at £37 a head but the bill for three of us came to over £150 and the only extra was one glass of ordinary white wine.

We had afternoon tea at the Lanesborough. The place was fantastic, and the customer service was mainly excellent. The exception was that there was 15% discretionary service charge added, and when I left 85 pounds to a 78 pounds bill (instead of the recommended 89.70 pounds), the waiter came back for clarification. I had to explain that, to the best of my knowledge, the service charge was discretionary (optional). Of course, I could be wrong, and the etiquette at such places could dictate that service charge is mandatory, which should have been clarified prior to visiting. The rest of the staff were excellent. The tea was great. The sandwiches were average. The sweets were good, but not excellent. You are offered to take he rest of the sweets (but not sandwiches) in a lovely box and a bag. Overall, if you have never been to an afternoon tea, you should visit this venue, as the experience would be very good.

Beautiful surroundings, friendly service and delicious treats to eat and drink

The place was nice! The afternoon tea was ok. Too pricy for what you got i eould most definitily say though. The service was not extra ordinary, and they did not check in on us or refueled our tea pots IF we did not ask for it. Nice place to sit but overall not worth the price. And they even added a service fee to the 39£.

I was very impressed by the quality of service, over the telephone (I had had to reschedule the afternoon tea because of the snow) and at the hotel, both at reception and in the dining room. The Celeste dining room was exquisitely beautiful and an apt setting in which to enjoy an afternoon tea to celebrate my sister’s birthday. It was a pleasure to listen to the pianist and an extra special treat when he asked my sister what she would like him to play in celebration of her birthday - we really appreciated this gesture. As for the food, it was wonderfully presented and tasted delicious. If I have to be critical, one of the finger sandwiches was a little stale, but there was the opportunity to request a second round of them; however, I desisted, in anticipation of the array of cakes which would soon arrive. Indeed we were offered the Alexander Hamilton inspired creations which looked good and tasted divine! The staff were very attentive and we felt thoroughly spoilt! It was a lovely, relaxing and memorable afternoon and one which I would love to replicate on another fitting occasion. Highly recommended.

Lovely place for afternoon. Beautiful room, great food and good service! We were in there a good few hours and we were able to take our time and enjoy ourselves and not feel like we were being rushed. Would definitely recommend!

We had afternoon tea at The Lanesborough on 18th February and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The room is beautiful, the members of staff attentive and helpful and the pianist is very good. The finger sandwiches are well presented in a range of flavoured bread. We particularly enjoyed the salmon ones. The sweet selection was good, the Hamilton themed items were very finely detailed, so much so it seemed a shame to eat them! The best part however was the scones, which were warm, light and very enjoyable. We didn’t manage to finish all of our cakes and were pleasantly surprised when the waitress offered to package the leftovers up for us. One slight downside was that the box didn’t manage to protect the items very well. Overall a fantastic experience and one we would certainly recommend.
