Enjoy a delicious afternoon tea in one of London’s most iconic setting, The Hansom.
The Hansom is King's Cross' ultimate destination bar, offering a range of unique cocktails inspired by 18th and 19th-century classics. The cocktail menu is comprised of 2 main sections: The Hansom Classics incorporate 18th-century drinking traditions, such as the Oxford Night Cap - the drinking norm of 18th century Oxford University, whereas The Hackney Classics are based on the 19th-century mixed drinks revolution. A range of craft beers, ales and wines are also offered.
A traditional past-time in King's Cross most inspiring venue. Savour their afternoon tea while learning about the stories of how our area has transformed into the vibrant destination that is today.
The coming of railways into the area in the past made King's Cross the hub for anything and everything - potatoes, furniture, tobacco and timber, most vital of these goods was coal. Victorian London was a city powered by coal, and Coal Drops Yard, the new shopping district in King's Cross was its coal store.
In 1874 the first Pullman train in to the UK operated on the Midland Railway where groups of wealthy travellers embark on mystery tours, these train lines were crucial in transporting not only people but food and other materials. Many discoveries were found when excavating the goods yard near St. Pancras station back in 2011, including evidence of a large potato market and even a banana stall, which was found on old maps used for ripening and selling bananas.
The light blue ironwork found in St. Pancras station was manufactured by the Butterley Iron Company, which was formed in 1790 as Benjamin Outram & Co to exploit the mineral resources of the Erewash Valley particularly the Butterley tunnel in Derbyshire.
Housed in an iconic building, The Hansom in London sits next to Kings Cross and St Pancras Rail Stations. Valet parking is available on site.

Very bad! One star is the only option else I’d give it zero I have been here before in February and absolutely loved it 5* experience however this time the service was Poor. I waited 30mins before a server approached. The champagne was room temp and the girl had really no clue about anything. The scones were hard and smelt eggy. I still can’t get rid of the eggy smell from my hands. The ambiance was nice and the Opera cake was nice. We were never told if any of the sandwiches or sweets/scones can be repeated. I won’t go back. I saw some bad reviews and I did not believe them and thought they must be mistaken or nit-picking but absolutely right!

We had afternoon tea. It was very nice & a good price! I didn’t like the decor much as I prefer “old time elegance”. The pastries were really wonderful (perfect size & delicious - some of the best I’ve had at an afternoon tea). The sandwiches & scones were also very good (not enough cream though). Our waitress/hostess was outstanding, so kind and gave us such great service (I wish I’d got her name to commend her).

The afternoon tea was fabulous. The finger sandwiches were made with different flavour breads which complemented the fillings. The scones were lovely and warm. It was nice that we had our own selection of desserts as opposed to having to share. The service was first rate. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive.

Lovely afternoon tea. We got the free flowing champagne option, which was good value. Cakes and sandwiches were delicious. Service was excellent.

It was great, but it's not £45 per person, it's £52 per person.

The venue was fantastic, The Hansom is situated in the old building with high ceilings and original features. The staff could not have been nicer, they were informative, attentive and knowledgeable. It was great value for money, and an added touch of finding out if we were celebrating anything, which we were, a special birthday, they delivered a special plate with candle. A lovely touch.
