Booked afternoon tea at the Goring for my girlfriend and myself. Great experience - can be compared with the afternoon tea at the Café Royal and almost with the afternoon tea at the Ritz. Luxurious ambience, perfect service, great quality of food, an outstanding experience.

Really nice atmosphere and accommodating staff. All dish courses were delicious and the strawberry shortcake was a crowd favorite. The teas were excellent and the whole experience was the highlight of my day.

I had the pleasure of bringing my elderly aunt to The Goring on Friday the 9th for afternoon tea. Having not seen my aunt for a long while I thought I would treat her to tea and then a show. My aunt is in her 80's and while still sprightly I wanted to take her somewhere not to far from her apartment. I did tell her that i knew of a small cafe just around the corner from Victoria station. May I say the delight on her face as we walk up to The Goring was wonderful to see and when the gentlemen at the door welcomed her so warmly she positively beamed from ear to ear. Having been shown through to the cocktail lounge, the bar staff were especially patient with her. As she was trying to choose what cocktail she would like and the young gentleman who served us helped explain some of the drinks for her, as she was so spoilt for choice. The dining room staff were as patient and helpful and treated her with special care and attention. I chose to have the rose champagne to accompany the afternoon tea and my aunt was very surprised that it was accented beautifully with some fresh strawberries. Delicate sandwiches and homemade scones accompanied with clotted cream and jam. Delicious mouth watering pastries were enough to tempt anyone. The whole of the tea service was outstanding and I cannot thank the staff enough for their kindness to my aunt. Again the gentlemen on the door were so helpful in getting us a cab so we were in plenty of time to see our show.

I had afternoon tea with 3 friends and my daughter to celebrate my 60th birthday. It was an amazing experience. We were so well looked after by the staff from the moment we arrived. The sandwiches were delicious, with a second round offered. We had a plain and fruit scone with jams and clotted cream, again with a second round offered, followed by a variety of dainty cakes. We were so full we took the scones home with us, all boxed up. I had a lovely chocolate opera cake birthday cake too. It was a very special experience, understated and luxurious which was perfect.

Wonderful sanctuary in the city for a delightful afternoon tea. The atmosphere was very gentile. The service is attentive but not oppressive, quality of tea and delicacies were of a very high standard. After a disappointing experience at the ritz the goring has become our go to place for quality service and a standard to hold others up to. We will return.

Delicious tea, attentive staff during service but had to request bill three times and wait 25 minutes as the staffs attention was more distracted to resetting tables. It was a shame as up to then it was lovely.

My friend and I had afternoon tea as we were both celebrating our birthdays. The price was very reasonable. Service was excellent from the moment we entered the hotel.. All the staff were very friendly. The selection of sandwiches was very good, we particularly enjoyed the melted cheese one. There was a good selection of teas and the waiter was very helpful at explaining them. During our meal the waiter bought us a special cake with two candles in to celebrate our birthday. We then went for a cocktail and it was lovely to have a pianist playing in the background. My friend misplaced her glove during the evening and on inquiring about it as we were about to leave a member of staff overheard the conversation, came over and said a glove had been handed in. He then went to the lost property room to return it. We both loved the ambiance of the Goring which was very homely and not ostentatious like some hotels. We shall definitely be returning sometime in the future.

Excellent afternoon tea. Delightful cakes and finger sandwiches. Scones were also good but may have been more enjoyable if warmed. Good selection of teas, all served in silver teapots. Service was EXCELLENT, could not fault in any way.
