This is the 3rd time I've been to the French since it re-opened in 2013 and this was by far the best time. Simple one of the best meals I've ever had

A wonderful experience! The whipped cod's roe and tea and toast with dripping and tongue were my favourite's, possibly due to being the first two courses when I was hungriest. I was going to order the Golden Empire dessert to share with my husband but was far too full. The staff were incredibly helpful. My only criticisms are, the tablecloths are like a fitted sheet and an unattractive, drab colour. A crisp, cotton tablecloth would have suited the occasion far better. I was disappointed to discover that there was a service charge added without us being aware of this as we had left a tip. Maybe staff could point this out?

My husband loved the meal. I enjoyed the dessert but wasn’t keen on the other courses. Pea soup was ok. Chicken was too strong. Didn’t enjoy the cold toast with the soup. Really did not like the oyster with the sauce- far too creamy. But lovely experience overall. Chablis was lovely and service was excellent

Amazing meal at a fantastic venue. The restaurant was slightly difficult to locate as they use a side entrance and not the original doors with The French above them but once we were taken to the entrance by hotel staff. The restaurant itself is a good size - plenty of space per table and not too large a room. Beautifully decorated with the most amazing lights in the centre of the room. We had the 6 course tasting menu with paired wine which overall was brilliant. Three of the courses in particular were amazing. I also had the extra cheese course which I could not speak highly enough of and would recommend to everyone even non-cheese people. Overall a brilliant evening.

We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and it was a perfect evening. All the dishes were excellent and beautifully presented. The drinks complimented the food perfectly and Max, the waiter/sommelier, was knowledgeable and very pleasant
