Adam Reid at The French perfectly marries the old and new, and is a dining experience to be remembered. While the restaurant is steeped in history, the menu offers modern British food that delivers consistently excellent flavours, made using only the very best seasonal produce available.

The French offers outstanding levels of service, warmth and elegance that in turn, create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere like no other in Manchester. Guests can choose from 6 or 9-course tasting menus and wine flights, offering supremely elegant tasting journeys.

The French restaurant boasts 3 AA Rosettes and features in the Good Food Guide 2018 at Number 17, the only restaurant in the Greater Manchester area to make it into the top 50 of the prestigious guide. The French also ranked 79th in The National Restaurant Awards 2016.

    Unbelievable experience. Everything about the whole evening was amazing and to top it off Adam took the time out to come and chat with us. Won’t be long before we return.

    Lovely welcome when we arrived. Staff were attentive but not over bearing. Food was very good and the accompanying wines were a delight. Slight criticisms were wines often served quite some time (15-20 minutes on some courses) before food appeared, consequently it was either finished or we didn't touch it until course arrived. Also background music felt a little odd for surroundings (Happy Mondays, Stone Roses etc).

    First visit to Adam Reid at the French. We had previously visited when it was the French and also when Simon Rogan was there. Booked the four course menu as a suprise for my husbands birthday. From arrival to departure the staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. We decided to have the wine flight and was glad we had as it gave us the opportunity to try wines we would not normally drink and they certainly complemented the food. The appetisers, starters and dessert were excellent. I was a bit underwhelmed by the main course while it was nice I felt the chicken could have been more flavoursome. Coffee and petit fours was excellent. I would certainly recommend the resteraunt for a special occasion.

    Great location, very attentive and friendly staff who looked after us exttremely well during a full "tasting menu" evening which lasted from 8pm until 11.45pm! Michelin Star service not quite matched by Michelin Star food, but food very good nonetheless and absolutely terrific value for nine courses. They coped extremely well with a table with varied food requirements - no mean fete when delivering a tasting menu.

    A fantastic evening and fabulous, innovative food. All topped off with excellent service. I cannot fault our evening at this restaurant and plan to return later in the year. The food deserves a Michelin star.

    Adam Reid has kept the bar high after the departure of Simon Rogan. The complexity and flavours of this menu have blown away the abysmal local competition and Aiden Byrne's new 20 stories menu. The restaurant was so accommodating to my dietary needs, despite not requesting them to alter the menu for me. I travel the world for Michelin star restaurants and happy to find something on the verge at home. Thank you again Adam Reid and hats off to your whole team for all you have created. Bravo!
