Serving fresh, authentic Italian cuisine since 1978, A Little Taste of Italy Ristorante Teatro brings a slice of continental life to Glasgow city centre. Just across from the King’s Theatre, the restaurant is the ideal place for a pre-theatre meal, and hosts live music at the weekend.

On the Ristorante Teatro menu, freshness and Italian authenticity are both treated importantly. Ingredients are locally sourced, with key items imported directly from Italy, giving diners the best of both worlds. From antipasto platters perfect for sharing, there is also a selection of fresh pasta dishes, fresh Scottish beef, and vegetarian options. If there is a desired dish that does not feature on the menu, the chefs will do their best to prepare it. All items on the menu – from bread to desserts – are made freshly in the restaurant each day.

As well as a selection of Italian and international wines, Ristorante Teatro Glasgow also mixes up a range of bold cocktails, and serves beers and fine spirits.

A Little Taste of Italy Ristorante Teatro is just 3 minutes’ walk from Charing Cross (Glasgow) Rail Station, and a 7-minute walk from Buchanan Street Station.

Booked this restaurant because we have dined here before and loved it. Table booked for 6pm, we arrived and were shown to our table by a friendly gentleman. We were sat next to a lovely couple wh we got to know due to the fact our tables were very very close. We ordered drinks, starters and main meal. The drinks and starters arrived promptly by a smiling waitress. We waited a further 30 minutes on our main course. When we questioned the whereabouts we were given a sharp reply and the smiling waitress turned into a rude waitress. My main meal of carbonara was very dry.

I thought I had originally booked for the Sannino where you enter down the stairs however they have expanded and moved in to the premises next door, this was their opening night so you could still smell paint and they were unable to take credit card payments, myself and my colleagues had booked for 5pm, the staff were very attentive and quickly came to take our order, myself and one friend ordered meatballs, one friend ordered pizza and the other ordered risotto, the meatballs were not the best, I have tasted better, they were quite dry and the spaghetti was overcooked, the risotto according to my friend was bland and not very tasty however my friend who had the pizza said it was delicious.

we ordered 2 chocolate fudge cake and 1 ice cream for dessert, one of my friends was unable to eat their cake as she said it was stale, my other friend said the same but ate it anyway as he hadn't eaten all his dinner and was still hungry.

I am hoping this was only teething problems with it being their opening night as I have visited Sannino on many occasions before and never been disappointed, will I return? possibly not but I remain open minded.

We had the pre theatre menu, which had plenty choices and the food was excellent. Service was great and served with a smile. We were a table of 7 so was a bit cramped but that is the only complaint. Very handy for the Kings Theatre. My niece had organised banners and a cake, which the staff were happy to accommodate.

Good food & attentive polite staff at a very busy pre-theatre time.

Despite the best efforts of the waitress to make us welcome ( thanks for trying... you were the saving grace) the head waiter seemed determined to destroy the reputation of what was at one time a Glasgow legend in the world of Pizzas.

From rudely barging reaching across me to get to menus without an excuse me, to ordering me to move my chair ( at the table we were given near the counter and entrance) because they needed room to walk past to taking an order for one drink from a table of three people, the man seemed completely lacking in any manners, customer care or just plain awareness of his actions.
Having my seat bumped, banged and grabbed by every passer by was an extra joy.

The food was really pretty average.
If you were ever luck enough to sample a hand made, hand cooked Sannino pizza back in the day, then your heart would have broken as mine did when presented with a 10" pizza from a pack of frozen bases, with an almost non existent £4.00 worth of extra toppings on the standard Marguerita base on the Pre Theatre menu.
Pre theatre can mean some compromises,.... I get that, but it doesn't give restaurants a license to fleece the customer as was the case here. My son was served a miniscule portion of reheated lasagne which left him 'hangry' and dissatisfied. Washed down with the usual over priced drinks.

My Pint of draught coke came in a tall half pint glass. C'mon people...

Basically I wouldn't bother with this place. The competition from places like Mozza and Paesano is so fierce, I almost expected Sanninos to be even better.

They have clearly given up on pleasing customers and are just racking up the extra profits by serving sub standard overpriced generic rubbish.

A very disappointing trip down memory lane. Nothing ever lasts forever and some old glories can never be copied.

    If you love Pizza....
    Skip this place

If you want to survive in business guys... it's time to up your game.

I visited a couple of weeks ago and had chicken risotto which was delicious. In view of this I ordered it again on Saturday and was extremely disappointed. It was exceptionally peppery and the chicken was tough and had brown bits as if it had been cooked and left out.

Overpriced less than average food and wine.
