Restaurant description

The 28-50 Wine Workshop & Kitchen in Marylebone has welcomed a sister-restaurant to the West End. 28-50 Covent Garden restaurant serves French bistro-style dishes in St Martin's Courtyard. Alongside a 30-bottle strong wine list, 28-50 redefines the wine bar experience with regular tastings, themed dinners and wine workshops.

The 28-50 Covent Garden menu is described as elegant and modern, delivering dishes like burrata with almond, peach, and salsa verde to start. Why not sample their oyster platters in the Oyster Bar with a glass of champagne, or a glass of their exclusive Chateau de Candie wine, which they produce themselves in the French Alps. Sample some of their well-versed classics such as cod with fennel, mussels and a saffron vinaigrette, or indulge in their Snowdonian Welsh fillet or rib-eye steak from the grill. Rounding off the menu, are an array of French staple desserts, such as cherry clafoutis with a creamy yoghurt ice-cream.

Dine on the terrace or inside the glamorous setting, under a wine glass chandelier feature, while in-house sommeliers pair wine with seasonal European dishes. Following Marylebone's sophisticated interior styling, 28-50 Covent Garden in London features a striking champagne bar decorated with wine crates adjacent to Covent Garden's unique mirror wall, chairs in every shade of pink and blue, and vintage light fixtures.

Near St Martin's Theatre, the wine bar is perfect for pre- or post-theatre dining. 28-50 Wine Workshop & Kitchen in Covent Garden is close to Trafalgar Square and is a 2-minute walk from Leicester Square Station and 3 minutes' from Covent Garden.

28-50 Covent Garden has a good atmosphere. The restaurant's design is contemporary, but with comfortable seating and there's also a small manageable bar area. Service is very good and the wine list endless, although on the expensive side. Our dinner was ok, but sadly my mussels were gritty and many were unopen and therefore inedible. Perhaps I was just unlucky with my choice as my husbands steak was cooked to his liking and our starters of duck terrine and tempura squid were good.

This is an exquisite restaurant in Upper St Martin's Lane. Plush decor makes for a very relaxing evening, My party had the set menu and all said that their choice of food was delicious and good value for money. The meal was unhurried, spread out over 2 to 3 hours, so you didn't feel rushed. The service was friendly and attentive without being obtrusive and enhanced the relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant. A very enjoyable evening.
