Restaurant description

The 28-50 Wine Workshop & Kitchen in Marylebone has welcomed a sister-restaurant to the West End. 28-50 Covent Garden restaurant serves French bistro-style dishes in St Martin's Courtyard. Alongside a 30-bottle strong wine list, 28-50 redefines the wine bar experience with regular tastings, themed dinners and wine workshops.

The 28-50 Covent Garden menu is described as premium and modern, delivering dishes like the seared scallops with pickled ginger, toasted pine nuts and pumpkin purée to start. Sample a seafood platter for 2, 3 or 4, or the Snowdonian Welsh beef from the grill before rounding off with poached pear and chocolate cream for dessert.

Dine on the terrace or inside the glamorous setting, under a wine glass chandelier feature, while in-house sommeliers pair wine with seasonal European dishes. Following Marylebone's sophisticated interior styling, 28-50 Covent Garden in London features a striking champagne bar decorated with wine crates adjacent to Covent Garden's unique mirror wall, chairs in every shade of pink and blue, and vintage light fixtures.

Went to 28-50 for the first time, its a lovely looking restaurant with great decor. We started with a really nice cep veloute followed by chicken which was tasty and moist, wished we had ordered a side of potatoes or chips though. My dessert of apple/rhubarb crumble was tart and filling - it was quite a large portion. Would definitely recommend and return!

Super evening, staff friendly - relaxed, but attentive. Very good steak, loved the triple cooked chips and my husband enjoyed the lamb. Will definitely go back, felt good value and the glass of champagne was a definite plus!

We chose this restaurant for its great selection of wines and it certainly did not disappoint! The sommelier was very informative helping us chose our wines with our food. The burrata as a starter was delicious followed by the lamb as a main and we shared some cheeses for dessert. We will definitely be back, such a good location in Covent Garden, next to seven dials and 2 minutes from Leicester square station.

Decent size glass of Champagne. Starter (goose and mustard pate) and dessert (crumble) were fine for the price but the main course - the fish pie - was dry and stodgy. Service was slow but staff were polite and friendly. Bit rushed on a Saturday evening, I suppose, which is understandable. Would recommend booking in a quiet period.

Pleasant restaurant - newly opened, so not very busy and therefore lacked atmosphere. Set menu @ £25 for 3 courses including glass of champagne was good value (although could have included more choices) compared to the expensive a la carte offerings

First imptession was lovely. Ambience was really good and staff attentive. However the food really lets it down! I ordered the confit duck. It sounded amazing. When it came i have never been so disappointed! You expect to pay a premium in London but this is overpriced rubbish! I was served a leg of duck, a miniscule portion of french fries- not even two mouthfuls- imagine a portion of McDonald's happy meal fries only half the size! And a sprig of watercress leaves. Thankfully bread and butter was on the table or i would have been really hungry. I'm only a small person (8.5 stone) with a small appetite so im really not exaggerating about the portion size!! This establishment is misleading its customers. When you read the a la carte menu you would assume it is fine dining but fine dining this is not. Stop ripping people off! I did feed this back to the waitress. Its not her fault bless her but her response to my complaint was "I'll let the chef know" with hindsught i should have refused to pay for my awful dinner.
