De Vere Latimer Estate captures all the magnificence of a distinguished era. As you approach this elegant Victorian manor house along the sweeping driveway, you’ll quickly realise this is no ordinary venue. Now fully restored to its former glory and set in 30 acres of countryside, with beautiful landscaped gardens, it is the perfect blend of old and new.
Afternoon tea at 1838 - Latimer Estate reflects this heritage impeccably and is truly a talking point; charmingly traditional yet incorporating some wonderfully modern, innovative twists. The menu features a tempting selection of sweet and savoury options, including hand-made cakes and pastries, as well as a selection of teas and something sparkling if desired for that added treat. Always a delight, whatever the occasion.
With interior trees, a stunning glass ceiling and pastel-coloured bar with a colourful floral wallpaper backdrop, the 1838 – Latimer Estate is a wonderfully whimsical setting for modern British recipes. The 1838 menu uses carefully sourced produce to craft gourmet, seasonally-inspired recipes. There are traditional flavours found in dishes like the 12-hour ale braised short rib of beef and ox cheek, while from the grill there are popular 28 day aged Buccleuch steaks and best lamb chump rump. Burger lovers will not be disappointed with no less than four different varieties to choose from and there are also creative vegetarian delicacies, including the ‘McSweens’ veggie haggis Scotch egg.
A truly stunning space filled with a romantic ambience, 1838 – Latimer Estate is a 5-minute drive from Chalfont & Latimer Rail Station.

The afternoon was delicious. But worryingly when we said no cheese to the chef, there was still cream cheese and goat's cheese in the afternoon tea. However, kudos to the chef for quickly making up for this and whipping up something else without cheese.
