Brilliant food and service - really enjoyed the evening. There is an issue re. parking however - only 3 hours - this isn't long enough to relax and enjoy the meal at leisure and chat with old friends. We asked and were told that the parking time is adhered to strictly - one of our party is disabled but we hadn't come in her car and we had to leave table earlier than we wanted and then wait outside on street where she was very cold whilst waiting for husband to bring car round to side street. Think 3 hours should be extended - even if in cinema if want a drink or food too - not long enough at all. We would have had more drinks if able to stay longer so also you are losing some income. The other couple have a voucher too to come to stay at your hotel and have dinner etc. - (got it as a present) - but due to parking rule are now going to change venue to Waddington ( I think that is what she said - as can park there OK).

Delay in service, took a while to order drinks and meal. Then delivery of same very slow. Felt we had to keep catching the eye of staff. Drinks presented differently to the norm, aperol in an unusual glass, same with the raspberry cocktail served in tumbler with large amount of ice, totally different to before and not an improvement sadly. Loved the pianist and setting but shame as not the same experience we had first time round. Won’t be repeating unfortunately.

Lovely old converted mill exceptionally renovated and designed to a high standard, attentive staff, large bar and seating area and tasty well presented food, I’d definitely recommend 1823 Bistro and will be returning.

The situation of the restaurant is great, part of an old mill with a lively outside drinking area and large food store. The actual restaurant appears to be part of a larger hotel and is bright light and nicely furnished. The menu is quite extensive with plenty of choices. The food we chose was excellent, beautifully prepared and presented. The whole experience was spoilt though by the erratic service, the bread ordered to fill the gap before the main course arrived was not delivered until after the meal. The sauce ordered for the fantastic steak didn’t arrive until reminded and then it was not the one ordered. The wrong desert menu was offered, the drinks waiter disappeared, cutlery was missing but that all said the food was worth ignoring the problems.

Enjoyed the food and the ambience love the interior design but needs some absorbent surfaces to cut down noise levels. Very difficult to talk and be heard. More variety on the menu and definitely other draft beer choices not just Bowland. A variety of known quality beers from major brewers like Timmy Taylor’s,moorhouses, readley hallows would help.
