On arrival we were shown to our table which was tucked away in a discrete corner, giving the intimate and romantic atmosphere I had requested. Drinks were offered and then after a suitable interlude our orders were taken. Each course was served with no noticeable delay and was very good. OVerall we enjoyed our visit to the Yew Tree - it's over 20 years since we were last there and I have no doubt we will be returning somewhat sooner!

Great food as usual and the venison wellington was superb and tender, but was only when we got home realised that they forgot to bring out the new potatoes!

The venue is attractive and the staff welcoming. On arrival there was a notice saying there were problems in the kitchen which didn't bode well. We were very disappointed with the food. The beef was very tough as to be almost inedible. The desserts were good.

Very delicious food overall. Very good service if staff a little mute. In the private dining room there was a low ceiling and for people over about 5'10, of which we had at least 3 in our party, it made standing up a little uncomfortable! However we understand the age of the building to be about 400 years old and the appreciate the charm of the place. Speed of cars coming past the pub a little scary as there are roads front and back. Perhaps speed restriction leading up to give-way on minor road to right of pubis something to think about. Lovely garden at the back - would like to come back in the summer and sit outside. V dog friendly which is a bonus for us. Some dishes a little sparse - eg. salmon on white onions. Some starch eg potatoes/cous-cous/rice would have made it a little fuller. Cod dish a little bland. Delicious pudding. A lovely warm atmosphere - well done!

This is our first choice for special occasions. In this case, my husband's birthday. As always, absolutely wonderful!

We were staying at the inn so we had both dinner and breakfast. Both were excellent and the service was quick and courteous. The White Star beef burger was huge, served with skinny fries and a salad. My wife had the haddock fish and chips. We split a brownie for dessert - a 10 in the brownie realm.
For breakfast we had the Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine--as good as we've had anywhere.

We have been here several times before and have always really enjoyed it but this time it did not meet its usual standards.
