Bars were welcoming, intimate and jolly affairs complete with blazing log fires. Attentive staff.
Meals were excellent, as was the wine selection. Always great, so we'll done the Management.

A 3-minute walk from Winchester Cathedral and the 14th-century Winchester College, The Wykeham Arms is a charming country pub, nominated Hampshire Dining Pub of the Year by the Good Food Guide. During summer, you can soak up the sun and enjoy an al fresco meal in the garden whilst the bar has a choice of 5 ales and a sophisticated wine list.

The Wykeham Arms menu features freshly cooked, modern and rustic pub dishes created using quality, local ingredients. Game dishes like poached and roasted rabbit loin or Hampshire guineafowl breast are favourites, while slow cooked pork belly and whole roasted sole cater to those with a hearty appetite.

Decadent desserts include chocolate fondant and treacle tart with sweet pickled blackberries and tonka bean anglaise. The dining room at the Wykeham Arms in Winchester features sophisticated leather banquettes and original period features.

Exposed brick walls and wood panelling add to the relaxed feel at The Wykeham Arms Fullers restaurant, while the cosy fireplace offers further warmth.

This was a very happy evening with a large group. Whilst the service was fantastic and we had a lovely time, the food was good but not amazing, and the prices were too high (£19 for the prawn and crab linguine). It was convenient and we would probably go again if with a group from school, but wouldn't recommend it to friends as didn't feel it was value for money - sorry. (And I used to work there in my youth, so would love to be more positive!)

Gorgeous old pub with great food. And best of all, no TVs or music...hallelujah!

Another enjoyable lunch, if a little cramped as the four of us were in two small church pews. Nevertheless, the food was good and the service prompt and helpful

Staff as usual were helpful, arranging for us to sit in the bar ( our preference) rather than the restaurant. Service a little slow after that as they couldn't quite decide whether we were restaurant or bar customers, and if we had to order at the bar. We waited about 45 minutes between being seated and being served. The roast beef was excellent; properly aged meat, crisp Yorkshire pudding and an interesting range of vegetables. Atmosphere convivial and Christmassy.

Excellent location. Good service. Lovely ambience. Nice soup, but should be hotter. Size of main course was not so large as to extinguish my appetite. Quality was superb, but dish overall was not very imaginative for the price paid.
