We booked afternoon tea as a birthday/wedding anniversary treat. We were made to feel welcome by the bar and restaurant staff who were very attentive. The food was delicious and well presented, our only criticism being the use of teabags as opposed to loose leaf tea but that is a personal choice and didn't really detract from the experience. The Christmas decor and music made our afternoon tea very festive. We hope to visit again next time we are in the North East.

Decidedly unimpressed, the room was cold and rather clinical so no real atmosphere.
The tea was week and cold, 2 teabags in a very large pot. We had to wait quite some time before the they brought the food there was nobody else in the place so why it took so long is a mystery.

At this point i asked fro a fresh pot with three t bags, no problem staff were polite, however back came the tea again with 2 tbags. It was hot, but no amount of
standing, steeping or stirring was going to make it any better.

Sandwich selection- Cheese and pickle were lovely the others in brown bread were tasteless and the white bread was dry, crusts not cut off properly and the filling only in the middle. and they ere to cold possibly had been frozen or kept for a day or so in the fridge not fresh.

The scones were WARM AND REALLY REALLY NICE WITH THE JAM AND CLOTTED CREAM.

The cake's were boring. treacle tart, a baked cheesecake and what looked to be carrot cake they all looked so unimpresive we couldn't bring ourselves to bother as they felt and looked dry. Nothing was fresh!! except the fruit used to decorate the plate ( the raspberries and blackberries would have been great on a fresh cream meringue)

So all in all, Paying £31.98 for a Pot of hot water, 2 very small cheese and pickle sandwiches, two very lovely scone's with jam and cream a bit on the expensive side. Notedly on leaving, the staff did not ask if every thing was all right or had we enjoyed our meal.

Save your money and go to Marks and Spencer's

Windows on the Tyne restaurant?? I wouldn't know as we weren't allowed in even though we booked it!.. We were put in some other room as you decided to double book the restaurant and not inform us. Then fob us off into some soulless room where my disabled brother was forced to climb a huge stair case. This is just a small taste of the overall bad service we received

Went here for afternoon tea for my daughters 30th birthday yesterday, we had a fabulous selection of sandwiches, cakes etc, staff extremely attractive and nothing was too much trouble, the view of theTyne bride just topped off our wonderful afternoon, we'll definitely be back, highly recommended.

Myself and my daughter went for afternoon tea to celebrate her 13th and my 41st birthdays ( yes she was born on my birthday ). The staff made us very welcome and made it very special, even bought us a lovely surprise plate with happy birthday written on and extra cake and fruit. The mocktails were delicious too.
Very relaxing atmosphere in stunning location. The staff were excellent!!!!!
Only disappointment was she wanted to get a Hilton teddy bear as a souvenir , but there weren't any left in stock.
