With a wonderfully picturesque setting on the shores of Lake Windermere, Waterhead Bar & Grill is a chic, contemporary eatery that adds modern tweaks to established regional dishes.

Carefully selected regional ingredients go into the Waterhead Bar & Grill menu, as seen in starters like locally produced artisan breads, and pressed Cumbrian corn-fed chicken with ham and baby leek terrine. International twists can be found in flavoursome recipes like Asian spiced Cumbrian pork belly with lemongrass and coriander, crisp noodles and anise scented carrots, and there is a popular grill selection of tender steaks. The restaurant also boasts a wood-fired pizza oven, cooking up hand-stretched bases loaded with premium toppings.

To finish, desserts at Waterhead Bar & Grill Ambleside include homemade Brockman's gin and tonic sorbet with crystallised lemon, and classic custard tart with glazed banana. A full wine list and dedicated gin menu are also served.

Also offering a special gluten-free menu, Waterhead Bar & Grill boasts stunning natural surroundings, and sits 10 minutes' drive from Windermere Rail Station.

My wife and I had a lovely meal in the restaurant on both of the evenings we stayed and were delighted to be seated in the bay window on both occasions. My wife particularly enjoyed the soufflé starter on the first evening and I enjoyed my black pudding. We both had the lamb shank which was delicious. On the second evening we both had the scallop starter which was perfect and I had the game pie which was extremely tasty and my wife had the beef which she said was melt in the mouth. The breakfasts were equally nice. The restaurant was nicely laid out and looked very plush with nice decor.
The service was excellent. The staff were polite, courteous and friendly but not overbearing.
    Would come again.

Lovely dining room and excellent staff who were extremely polite and helpful. The food is of a very high standard. My lamb shank was flavoursome and fell of the bone. Breakfast choice second to none.

Really enjoyed it. The food was amazing,a bit more pricy than we are used to, but the quality and taste of the food was well worth the price. Really nice venue and setup we felt really special. My wife loved the decor. We thought the best feature by far was the professionalism of the staff they were so helpful and really made your establishment feel a cut above the others we have been too.

    Good table. Food was good.
    Service was OK
Disappointed that we ordered a glass of wine with the main course and it never arrived!
Disappointed that the soup offered was not what was delivered. It was OK though
