A striking food emporium in a grand Edwardian building, Villandry St James’s is a continental-style French Mediterranean restaurant. All day dining can be enjoyed in the sophisticated restaurant dining area, or in the more relaxed café space.

Sumptuous dishes on the Villandry menu include pea and ricotta risotto, grilled sea bass with salsa verde and pomegranate, and chicken supreme marinated with green harissa. Melt-in-the-mouth steaks are 28 day-aged and served simply with a choice of sauce and sides, while desserts include a wickedly tempting warm chocolate fondant with salted caramel ice cream.

Evoking an elegant bistro-style ambience with striking red leather banquettes and classic French décor, Villandry in St James’s offers a wide range of breakfast dishes, a laidback brunch and a select pre-theatre menu. Classic cocktails partner sophisticated wines, and there’s an enticing cake counter.

Simple modern European cuisine is executed perfectly at London restaurant Villandry, which also offers private dining. Piccadilly Circus Tube Station is a 5-minute walk away.

We were left disappointed by the food, and applaud the best efforts of the front of house staff to make amends for what can only be described as an 'off night'. Initial impressions were good, lovely ambiance, great location, nice menu. We had to ask 3 times for a glass of wine, my side dish didn't arrive (after the third request) until 3/4 of my main had been eaten, and my guest sent back 2 main dishes (Mussels were overcooked and the seafood linguini was excessively salty). The front of house team were very apologetic, made attempts to replace the meals or offer alternatives, but by then I had finished my course, except what was left of the late side dish, and we were resigned to our fate. The waiter made a lovely gesture and produced a complimentary glass of wine each and the chocolate truffles at the end of the meal were delightful. All in all, the evening was not a success, and it is unlikely we would return, but I appreciate the attempts to address the issues.

Fantastic evening, delicious food and wine. Went there with a group of 10 colleagues and every one of us loved the food. We had a pre-theatre menu which was an excellent value for money. Even though the colleagues come from different countries and the menu was limited to three starters, three mains and three course we all found a dish we liked. Exceeded my expectations.

Terrible experience waited over an hour and half for my food when the food came it looked very unappealing. After our food came the waiter told us we couldnt have anymore prosseco as our two hours were up where we had only been there for an hour and a half. Overall worst experience i would never reccommend to anyone, £35 pounds is a rip off.

Villandry St James is a lovely restaurant and the food is exceptional. Our waiter was excellent and the atmosphere is charming and comfortable as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

9.30 on a Saturday night ... you'd think Villandry would be buzzing. Reviews were good, so why were only 3 tables occupied? When we walked in, all we saw was emptiness and OAPs. A stylish retirement home. The food was good. Not amazing, but good. The prices were steep for what we received - £17 for one fishcake and an extra £5 for a 'pail' of chips (just a small bowl, unfortunately). The salmon salad occupied a bowl not much bigger but with a higher price tag. We were warned off the lighter bites - too small apparently. The service was attentive but we were the last there so everything was being shut down and tidied up around us - at 10.30. Would I recommend it? I think there are other places you might want to try first.

Excellent visit to Villandry. We both opted for the sirloin steak and were not disappointed! Lovely tender steak with great sweet potato fries and vegetables. Really nice atmosphere in the restaurant and the staff were attentive and very friendly. One of our favourite places to eat and we will be back! It would be nice to have more tables for two arranged in a way that each person has a view of the window rather than facing each other or the bar! Other than that - just great!
