As always, dinner at Villandry did not disappoint. Although by nature a carnivore, on this occasion I went for a fully vegetarian offering, winter salad to start with, wild mushroom risotto with black truffles, then the old classic: tarte tatin. Each was excellent. My guests went for other dishes, and were very happy with their choices. The waiter was knowledgeable and could not have been more helpful, especially with his advice on the best wines. An all-round very enjoyable experience.

The service wasn't great, and the afternoon tea was ok. The scone was extremely dry and thick.
    The cakes were nice.

Main restaurant closed - not told when I booked. Had to eat in cafe (same menu). Requested that there would be alcohol free beer when booked - they had no knowledge of any request (and no afb) - why bother to have a requests box when booking? Food of the same standard as all the high street chains.

Although limited to two choices per course, it was fine with us. The food was very nice. The servicer was unobtrusive. A very nice evening.
