Venta Moncalvillo is in the tiny village of Daroca de Rioja with barely thirty inhabitants surrounded by stunning countryside. The restaurant’s philosophy is simple - to make customers feel completely at home - not difficult thanks to the many cosy corners where diners can have some privacy. The menu at Venta Moncalvillo is based on the seasonal ingredients available and changes with each season. In spring it uses vegetables from its own kitchen garden; in summer there are cold main courses and fish; in autumn local wild mushrooms from the Sierra de Moncalvillo; and in winter game and traditional stews, not forgetting its specialities of cod cheeks and suckling lamb chops chargrilled over vine shoots. It also has a long list of gins, rums and malt whiskeys as well as a careful selection of cigars to mark the perfect end to an excellent meal and make it an experience to remember.
