A stock of ingredients sourced from tried and trusted suppliers make up the Vellore menu, with a list of decadent signature dishes crafted by Vellore's award-winning chefs.

Presenting a mix of traditional and contemporary English cuisine, the menu at the Vellore includes highlights such as seared sea scallops with pea puree, pancetta crisp & balsamic jelly, maple-glazed pork belly with creamed potato & broad beans, and roasted free-range chicken with smoked potato gnocchi & hazelnuts. A tempting dessert menu includes the delicious vanilla cheesecake with gingered oats and raspberries.

With majestic décor, the restaurant is set in what used to be the ballroom of the original house, with an adjoining coolly elegant canopied outdoor terrace. An impressive wine list ensures your meal is perfectly complemented.

    Excellent quality of food and service at dinner but extremely restricted choice. A la Carte menu had only one item more than Table d'Hote and that was a sharing platter. Could not recommend for that reason. High quality breakfast

    The dining room lacked atmosphere. The leeks with my main course we're undercooked so I asked for a steak knife to cut them but that didn't do the trick. I tried but they were inedible which I reported to the server who in turn told the chef.

    Generally nice experience, lovely room with good food and wine, although disappointed with the Duck. Excellent head waitress and a nice finishing touch of an "Happy Anniversary" Cake.

    I was not satisfied with the service we received on 14th February, this year. I stayed overnight with my partner, (I was on business) and thought the Valentine's dinner would be a nice treat as we were away from home. After being shown to our seats and handed menus, we thought we were in for s special night. I was right, but not as I would have hoped for ... After placing our orders, we had to wait a whole 45 minutes for the starter to arrive ... we had to request extra bread from the waitress to keep us going, as this ltime was so substantial. The starters were nice, and this complaint is not so much about the standard of food, which was passable, it is more directed at the haphazard service we received all evening. Next to us, a couple were shown to their table and waited a similar amount of time, but this time to order their food/drink! This made for an uncomfortable atmosphere between the tables, and I really felt for them. There was greater confusion when we expected our dirty plates to be cleared and to order desserts - which was another twenty minute wait ... I had to prompt a different waiter (our third in the service) to clear plates and take our order, which became confusing too - he told us the sharing dessert on the menu was one each - very odd - and we said okay then - and when it came - it was small and was - a sharing platter! It was gone very quickly but then we had to prompt to get the bill and my partner's coat back from beneath a pile of coats, as they were was no cloakroom! This was the final straw - and I logged the complaint the next morning when checking out - the receptionist said she would get the manger to contact me, and I have heard nothing since ... why is that? It is such a shame, as the rest of the experience was of a standard for a 4 star hotel - including a better breakfast experience ... I expect to hear something from this, particularly as the meal was 37 pounds each, excluding drinks ... Appalling standard for Macdonalds.

    We both felt that this was not fine dining and also the choice of food was very limited and disappointing on arrival, what made our experience pleasure was Tom who we found to be extremely accommodating and considering he has only been with yourselves for a week he is doing a marvellous job and is a credit to the hotel.
